One Way Sound-SPA2000/2Wire 2701HG-G

Post by Truexile »

The problem I have when I make a call is no ringback tone, or audio. They can hear me on the other end but I can't hear them. I have never had a problem with my FPL before, but I recently moved and got a new internet connection through bell. I know for a fact my ata device (SPA2000) works and has been configured properly, because it worked fine with my old internet connection. I did a factory reset on the device and plugged it into the new modem, re-entered the FPL settings hoping it would work, but it didn't. I then started to think it was a port forwarding issue, so I forwarded these ports on my modem:

Right now im at a loss and don't know what else to do. Im sure im not the only one with a 2Wire modem with this problem. Anyone who has any input please help. Thanks

Hi there,

I think you have to reset your spa to factory defaults and reconfigure it. Also, if you have static IP on spa, that might be an issue.

Can you try a full reset to defaults?

Let me know.

I did do a full factory reset on my SPA2000 by entering 73738# into the configuration menu, and tested it by checking its IP address before hooking it up to the modem, the IP was 0.0.0.0

Once I plugged it into the modem and got the IP (192.168.2.12) I re-entered the FPL settings and had the same problem. I tried this atleast 5 times already. There is no static IP on my spa and DHCP is set to 'yes'.

Any other ideas? Thanks.

Hi there,

Can you open a support ticket for this issue?

Once you have the ticket number, please send me a PM

Seems like a config error.

I will help you resolve this asap.

I just wanted to update my thread and thank the Fongo Support Team for helping me with this issue, my phone is now working fine. This is what corresponded between me and the support team:

Hi there,

I have verified account (my number) and found 2 issues:

1. device is stuck in a bad registration and you may have DNS issues at your end. this could be a result of Sept 3-rd:

http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10560

2. All your calls were between 0 and 9 seconds and I am unable to see what codec you are using.

Please ensure that device is setup with G711u

To resolve#1, please try to power of ATA for 5 minutes(full power off) (I have forced a registration on your account)

let me know.

Thanks,

Team Fongo Support

My Response:

Plugged it back in and it works like a charm. Thanks so much for your time and support and getting back to me so fast regarding this issue. I was using G711u codec btw. Thanks again.

I was very impressed with the support I got from the support team, I hope this thread can help others with the same problem.

Does anyone have this issue using the 2wire 2701HG-G router GrandStream HT701 ATA. I am getting the one way sound as well and have tried opening the appropriate ports on my router as outlined in subsequent threads. If I use an android smart phone with my account I get two way sound but lots of echo. When I switch to the GrandSteam ATA I only get one way voice. The phone connected to the ATA does not have audio, I have a dial tone but when I dial a number I do not hear it ring or the audio from the person on the other end, but the phone being called will ring and my voice can be heard on that device.

Is my GS ATA a newer revision preventing this 2 way connection as the screen prints in the forum do not match what I see on the device.

Thanks.
