How to turn on voicemail indicator on telephone?

Post by zgnomis »

I used to have voicemail indicator led on on my telephone, but somehow it is off so when I have voicemail there is no indicator on the phone I have it. The menu on the telephone only has one option to turn it off. Are there other settings in my account settings or on the router to turn it on?

I'm using a Speedtouch ST780 modem+router+ATA and a Vtech DECT6.0 cordless phone.

Thanks,

Could you PM me your phone number, I can see if I can do it for you.

The easiest way if you want to figure it out yourself is telnet to your 780, type: menu, the use the arrow keys to travel to Services, Message Indicators, MWI, Status=Enabled...

Thanks Kris, I telnetted into 192.168.1.254 and changed the setting as the following:

I haven't tested if the MWI works yet. But now when I dial *98 on my phone, I hear a call connected tone, it used to be "You have no new messages. Personal options, press three, exit, press star.". I have to dial my own phone number to get this message. Anything wrong?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding it, but what is this 'call connect tone'?

Not it's not normal, but those 780's are fairly easy to troubleshoot.

By the way Kris, do you know where is the option to control this feature in PAP2 v1?
Thanks.

Kris, what I meant by "call connect tone" is the sound you hear when you call a number and got connected and waiting for the other party to pick up while the phone rings.

Can you share your thoughts on how to troubleshoot it?

Thanks.

Thanks Kris.

I had MWI Serv and VMWI Serv under LINE set to NO. Changed it to yes and it works.

Funny that on one ATA it works when set to NO too. But on the other one it works only when set to YES.

Kris, I set MWI to yes but it still doesn't work. Might be something on the FPL server side? Thanks.

When you pick up the phone, do you get a broken dial tone?.. MWI is not handled by our server, it's handled by the device which it's on (hens the reason you can turn it on and off...)

Thank you!
