cordless phone has no dial tone but cord phone works fine

I just set up cisco spa112 with rogers network. After setting up phone 1, my cord phone works fine, but when I plug in my cordless phone to phone 1, there is no dial tone. Dose anyone have this problem before? How can I fix it? It is really bad if I can only use cord phone for this service. My router is default device provided by rogers, which combine modem and router together. Thanks.

Cordless phones should be fine, in fact it is very commonly used and I expect most people here have one plugged into their ATA. So with this in mind I would suggest there is possibly something wrong with the cordless phone, or you have done what I have a thousand times and plugged the thing into line 2 instead of line 1.

You 'should' always get a dial tone on the phone no matter if the ATA is register or not, so double check the plugs and things on your cordless phone set.
