I may be moving to an apartment where WIFI is included in the rent and I'm wondering if a WIFI Voip phone used as a replacement for a standard phone attached to an ATA will work flawlessly with Fongo home phone.
I found this product on eBay "Grandstream DP710 WIFI SIP IP DECT Phone".
Did anybody test the reliability of a similar product on Fongo network?
Thanks

It may work, but I think your are better off using this:

Bridonca will tell you same thing.
Can you try it?
You can also install Csip simple on your Android device and use the Voip unlock key (over wifi)
Thanks,

Re: WIFI home phone
The Grandstream DP710 WIFI SIP IP DECT Phone looks to be a fine product, but I would not recommend it. In a lot of cases, wifi is just not reliable enough for VOIP, and I would not want you to spend good money to find that out.
The ideal solution would be to become chummy with the landlord and have him allow you to install an ATA to an ethernet port of your landlord's router, and install a cheap 2 or 3 handset DECT phone to the ATA. If you can get him to forward a RTP port to your ATA, you should have good working VOIP, assuming that your landlord has a reasonably good router.
For an ATA, I would recommend any Obi product, Grandstream gear is fine also. I would stay away from Cisco/Linksys/Sipura ATA gear. They work, but are a pain to configure in oddball scenarios. This certainly qualifies as such.
For a DECT phone, I like the Panasonic gear. They sound good, and you can replace the batteries with cheap AAA Ni-MH batteries when the need arises. DECT phones have a great range, at least 500 feet. So you can put the base station near the ATA, and have the charging stations in your apartment for the cordless phones. As DECT phone are pretty close to interference free, you won't have drop outs and such as is possible with wifi.
In any case, I do recommend you get a router that can be flashed to DD-WRT, and set it up as a repeater, even if you do not use a VOIP setup on it. It is nice to have a strong wifi signal, and if you cannot get it from your landlord's router, a repeater is nice.
