Cfwd All Service setting changes by itself
I found something interesting and am wondering if anyone can reproduce it on your device - SPA3102.
Recently my SPA3102 frustrates me more and more often by changing Cfwd All Service or DND Service settings by itself. When this happens, no incoming calls will be received and 4 short beeps will be heard before the dialing tone. Then I go check the ATA settings, sure enough either of the settings changed. I then change it back manually on the settings page or dial *73 or *79 respectively.
Then my brilliant wife found out that whenever she dials a number containing 72 or 78 or she receives a call from a number containing 72 or 78, after that call, the phone will not receive incoming calls anymore. (maybe 972 and 978) Now she can fix the problem by dialing *73 or *79. But the problem is that we don't know we are not able to receive incoming calls until we pick up the phone and hear the 4 beeps.
I have tried to delete "Cfwd All Act Code" and "DND Act Code" on Vertical Service Activation Codes section on Regional tab. But the problem persists. I can't wrap my head around the reason behind this weirdness. Could anyone let me know what I can do about it please?

Re: Cfwd All Service setting changes by itself
I have exactly same symptoms and I don't know what to do. Fongo support just suggested to buy a new ATA. I can read on the Forum that more and more people has this problem so I think is not my ATA. I wonder did you solve your problem so you can let me know what to do.
Thanks

Re: Cfwd All Service setting changes by itself
If your ATA allows it, try changing the following:
Preferred Codec: G711u
Use Pref Codec Only: No
And those with PAP2T, you have to update your firmware to 5.1.6(LS).
BTW, we receive and dial phone numbers with 72 in them but can not duplicate your errors.

Re: Cfwd All Service setting changes by itself
@OP
If you look at User 1 or User 2 tab of your ATA when you are experiencing the problem, you might find 011972542935554. That number had called my number many times and every time it just goes to voicemail as I had blocked all numbers that I do not like including the number above.
A number mysteriously appearing in your ATA suggests that somebody has access to your ATA settings.
From the top of my head, you need the following set up on your Linksys ATA to minimize possibility of unauthorized access:
-Passwords for User and Supervisor on the ATA are mandatory, which you must change now because they are probably compromised.
-Upgrade enable must be set to No.
-Provision enable must be set to No.
-Restrict IP address must be set to Yes.
You will have to find this yourself in the ATA tabs as I am not sure where they are.

Re: Cfwd All Service setting changes by itself
Thanks Bing Kol. I did everything like you suggested. Now I wonder how to block this 011... number so won't do any more damage to my ATA.
How to put password on ATA?
Thanks

Re: Cfwd All Service setting changes by itself
In the System tab of your ATA, you can find the User and Admin password fields. You can use an easy to remember password such as your mother-in-law's maiden name (how can you forget thisdomptg wrote:Thanks Bing Kol. I did everything like you suggested. Make sure to save your settings and to reboot (power off--on) your ATA.
After doing the things in my previous post, it would be very difficult to access your ATA remotely as it is really dumb, unless of course your whole local area network is already compromised.
Now if you don't want phone numbers to ring your phone and just forward them to voicemail, you can fill up Cfwd Sel# Caller in the User tab of your ATA.
0*,1*,3*,5*,7*,8*
will block all calls that do not start with 2, 4, 6 and 9.
To further restrict calls that start with 9 (allowing 905 numbers only), you can fill up the next field with
900*,901*,902*,903*,904*,906*,907*,908*,909*,91*,92*,93*,94*,95*,96*,97*,98*,99*
Using above pattern, you do the same for your 416, 647, 437, and 289 (if you live in the GTA).
Then you can use the remaining fields to "block" specific numbers such as
4168010787,4162825665,4162698333
Of course, the spoofed number "905" will still ring your phone which can be dealt with separately but that is another story.

Re: Cfwd All Service setting changes by itself
Hi thanks for your response. The thing is that I set up only the password and I saved the settings. Now the computer is asking for user name which I don't know.
Do you know what is the default user name for ATA so I can get in. Thanks for your help again.

admin
I usually log in as user to get to the user interface, and then I click Switch to admin and Switch to advanced settings.
I hope that helps.

You don't and you can't. It is always user or admin. Like I said, I log in as "user" first, then I click the Admin Login link in the interface after I have logged in as user: user.domptg wrote:Bing Kol how do I set the different user name? Thanks

Re: Cfwd All Service setting changes by itself
This 011972542935554 number is still taking over my PAP2 ATA . This phone number is changing my settings and appearing as " call forward all calls" spot. This way is preventing my ATA to receive calls. I did follow all suggestions and I changed ATA settings as per Bing Kol

Make sure your ATA is not in DMZ, and the control panel is not accessible in any way from the internet.
I think I would also do a complete factory reset on the ATA to make sure everything is back to square 1, then set it up again.
Change your password and make sure it is complex.
