FYI, I just found out a huge bug regarding the fax receiving issue. FPL can receive single or double-page faxes without any problems. But the moment there are more than 5 or 10 pages, it craps out and fails. It seems like the fax server cannot receive anymore than 5+ faxes.

Hmm, I'll have to check this out on Monday - Pirate, if you would be able to send me some specifics of those fax transmissions?

By 'crapped out' what would you say happened? Did it just not transmit or was there an error (busy, etc..)

It simply times out and drops the entire transmission and disconnects. Try to send a 5 - 10 page document, and you will know what I mean. Sometimes, only the first few PDF pages appear on the email and the rest is missing.

Might have something to do with the transmission rate of the sender

Too many variables involved in fax-over-IP, which is why we don't officially support it. It's a "use at your own discretion" feature.

this is a c/p. i can't confirm this yet. what do you think?

i also notice there's a Modem Line Toggle Code: *99 in the ATA .... what does this do? does it help for faxing?

Step 1 Upgrade the ATA firmware to the latest version
Step 2 Ensure that you have enough bandwidth for uplink and downlink.
•For G.711 fallback, it is recommend to have ~100Kbps.
•For T.38, allocate at least 50 kbps.
Step 3 To optimize G.711 fallback fax completion rates, use the following settings on the Line tab of the Linksys ATA:
•Network Jitter Buffer: very high
•Jitter buffer adjustment: disable
•Call Waiting: no
•3 Way Calling: no
•Echo Canceller: no
•Silence suppression: no
•Preferred Codec: G.711
•Use pref. codec only: yes
Step 4 If you are using a Cisco media gateway for PSTN termination, disable T.38 (fax relay) and enable fax using modem passthrough.
For example:
modem passthrough nse payload-type 110 codec g711ulaw
fax rate disable
fax protocol pass-through g711ulaw
Step 5 Enable T.38 fax / Passthru_Method on the PAP 2T by configuring the following parameter on the Line tab for the FXS port to which the FAX machine is connected:
FAX_Passthru_Method: ReINVITE
Note If a T.38 call cannot be set-up, then the call should automatically revert to G.711 fallback.
I hope this information will help you in configuring the ATA.

*99 doesn't help for me (faxing to a FPL number). just tried 3 time and no go. If it did anything, it didn't work.
Also doesn't matter which VOIP provider i send from. it fails 6 -10 page out of 20 pages, when sending to a FPL number from VOIP
"The remote fax machine did not respond in time, and the call was terminated"
Turning off the Echo made it worse.
More Echo did nothing to help
Silence Suppression did nothing to help

I got my dad to send me a 20 page fax (from a real landline) but it fails @ 1st page into it. then 4 pages "communication error" it say's.

Just sent an 8 page, 20 page and 50 page fax to a non FPL number (1-888-877-1655 for fax testing) and completed with no problem's using VoIP
baud rate was set for 9600 and nothing running on the network.
