Inbound Calls go right to Voicemail

Post by boatguy »

****** UPDATE***** I fixed my own problem.

Read This! ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check your follow Follow me settings. Here I am thinking the phone won't ring. I tried everything under the sun and the solution was simple. It never made it to my ATA because I was doing a sequential ring to a disconnected number..

I cancelled the Follow me option on freephone line.ca and Viola....

I have been at this problem for a couple of weeks. Please be patient and I will give as much detail as possible. I am using a HT-286 ATA. I set it up and it works fine on my home network. I bring it to the cottage where I have a different ISP and it calls out fine. It registers fine. I use an apple airport to forward the ports. I use 5070 and 5014 (because my forgo app on my cell uses 5060 and 5004). I know this because when I forwarded those ports my fongo app didn't work on the same wifi network. As per several other posts, I made sure my sip registration was set at 3600. Still nothing. The phone works great but nobody can call in. They go straight to "the person you are trying..." and it happened pretty quickly after connecting.
Here is the info from the HT-286

I think I would open a support ticket on this one. The fact you have it working in one location shows things do work, but they might be able to see something more their end. The links and notes are in my sig.

If you want to try some stuff as it is the weekend and they may take a while to reply, I would strip things back, remove all port forwarding and factory reset the ATA so you know it is back to square one and see what you get. If you can get the service working properly then you know you have a solid base to start from. Just be careful with keep making changes and rebooting the ATA too often. Each time you do that it will send registrations through to the server and if it thinks you are doing it too quickly then it will block you. I have been tripped up on that a few times when playing with my settings here.

Your other connection isn't Rogers by any chance is it?

Thanks Jake. I can't believe how silly the problem was. It was actually nothing to do with the ATA device. That's why I took the working config from home and changed the number and it still wouldn't work. Then it came like a light bulb. It was happening very quickly even....so I checked my FPL settings on the web page and sure enough. There was a sequential ring set up but with a non existent number. Don't know how it happened. Actually I do. If you turn on follow me options then submit. The next step is to put in the phone numbers for sequential. I just closed and I think thats why it was going to the standard FPL message. The upside is I fixed a few other things along the way like the conflict beweent my Fongo cell app and the ATA.

Thank. BTW it was Acanac at home and Eastlink at the cottage....
