Hi,
I already have a number with Fongo. I also saw the unlock key with FreePhoneLine and I'm interested in doing that.
Couple of questions:
1. Do I have to port my number to FreePhoneLine first?
2. It's only $50 up front right? No other charges after?
Thanks.
Few questions before signing up.

You will have to get another account with Freephoneline. You will be given a new phone number. For $50, you will get SIP settings. You are expected to know how to set up your own SIP device, though there are people here in this forum that can help if you get stuck. There are settings for most devices already here.reiyu wrote:

If you want to port over a phone number, it will cost $25 extra. You can do that later when everything is working for you..
As for extra charges, you can get credit to pay for area that are not covered by the free calling areas. But there is no other charges.

As Bridonca said, if you have a Fongo number you will will have to open up a FreePhoneLIne account in order to take advantage of purchasing the unlock key. At this time you will be given another phone number.
If you would like to use your Fongo number you can always port (move) your number from Fongo to FPL http://support.fongo.com/entries/535548 ... ngo-Mobile for $5. Note though this will close your Fongo account and any additional purchases made on it (world credits, text credits, etc).
The $50 is a one time charge, there is of course TAX to go on top of that, and you will have to buy your own ATA, or whatever you are planning to use with it.
NONE of the Fongo/FPL services charge for incoming long distance or local calls. Apart from their Home Phone service you will not get a 'bill' from them. You will have to purchase world credits if you want to call numbers outside the free call areas.
I got my first number with them nearly 5 years ago now, and all it has ever cost me for that number is the initial $50

Thanks, but the link you provided me points me to transfer a number from FPL to Fongo, not the other way around. Is it going to be using the same form??Jake wrote:If you would like to use your Fongo number you can always port (move) your number from Fongo to FPL http://support.fongo.com/entries/535548 ... ngo-Mobile for $5. Re: Few questions before signing up.
You can transfer your existing FreePhoneLine phone number to Fongo Mobile/Fongo Home Phone or vice-versa.
At least that is what is says on the link. http://support.fongo.com/entries/535548 ... ngo-Mobile
I never knew about the $5 porting fee for Fongo related services. That is a nice surprise!
I think it is the same form for either direction, just put in the right phone number, and I am sure Fongo will figure it out.

As far as I know that support page says it goes both ways so one would assume it is the same form. It's all internal so I can't see it making much difference. If you go through the steps they will soon tell you that a different form needs filling out (if they do, could you post here where they send you as I couldn't find another one). You can transfer your existing FreePhoneLine phone number to Fongo Mobile/Fongo Home Phone or vice-versa....
