Guys,
I have been playing with this for the last few days (well I went away on holidays and came back to have my phone still not working). I have an HT701 ATA which is connected to my Telus V1000H router. I have tried to setup the port forwarding correctly but still the phone isn't working correctly.
I am able to make and receive calls however I can never hear anyone from my phone (and I have tried different phones still the same result). The other end can hear me fine but I cannot hear anything. If I dial out I hear the dial tone but as soon as I dial the number my phone appears to go dead (although once connected the other party is able to hear what I say but this clearly isn't very helpful ha)..
So does anyone have any ideas?
Below is a copy and paste of the main page of my HT701 what bothers me is the Unknown NAT?? I also have to use the factory telus firmware in the router as I use it with my optik tv
IP Address: 192.168.1.69
Product Model: HT701
Hardware Version: V3.0B Part Number -- 9610001930B
Software Version: Program-- 1.0.6.1 Bootloader -- 1.0.0.8 Core -- 1.0.6.1 Base -- 1.0.6.1
CPE --
System Up Time: 09:58:16 up 26 min
PPPoE Link Up: Disabled
NAT: Unknown NAT
Port Status:
Port Hook Registration DND Forward Busy Forward Delayed Forward
FXS On Hook Registered No
Also this is my first try at setting up a voip so it may be something simple (although I have done a lot of searching and forwarded the correct ports on the router and have setup the HT701 ata as per lots of recommended settings as well as going back to factory defaults and changing on my FPL settings)..
Thanks a lot

Re: HT701 and FPL setup
Thank you for posting such detailed information.
If you have the time, please try to upgrade your firmware to 1.0.7.3: http://www.grandstream.com/support/firmware
There is a new setting introduced in this version of the firmware, "SIP REGISTER Contact Header Uses WAN address". I don't have a HT701 to test with so I don't know if this will solve the problem. If you get the chance to try it, please let us know if it improves your symptoms.
If that does not work:
1) Remove your port forwarding. Port forwarding should not be used unless things won't work any other way - as this disables your firewall.
2) Be sure your device is configured as per http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16292
3) Open a support ticket for this issue: http://support.fongo.com/anonymous_requests/new

Re: HT701 and FPL setup
I actually was doing more searching and someone said to try the voip3.freephoneline.ca instead of voip/voip2. I tried this and everything appears to be working now. Did a long distance call to my parents to test it out and there appeared to be a bit of lag as I didn't hear any ringing however I heard my mom (maybe she picked up on the first ring or something?) and was able to talk with her for about 20 mins with no issues. She said I sounded perfectly normal so it appears to be good. I am thinking since this is working fine I may just leave it as is. I am going to remove the ports I told to forward and see if it still works.
I will also try and upgrade the firmware on the ht701.
Thanks and I will let you know my findings.

Re: HT701 and FPL setup
Telus Actiontec V1000H has documented issues with SIP VOIP. It seems the best option is to put the V1000H in bridge mode, which disables the router in that modem, and get yourself a decent router, preferably one that can be flashed with DD-WRT. Modems that have in built router almost always have awful routers for whatever reason.
Though I still strongly recommend you find a better router, you could see what happens when you use voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 as a SIP server.

Re: HT701 and FPL setup
Upgraded the firmware in the ata and removed port forwarding in router. Still worked fine. Set sip to voip.freephoneline.ca/voip2 tried a call and as soon as I turn on the phone I get a device not registered message. Went back to voip3 and it is working fine (still seems like there is a 5-10 second delay in connecting the call but maybe this is normal with voip)?
Thanks
Thanks

That sounds like a new symptom. Is this with "SIP REGISTER Contact Header Uses WAN address" or without?eaks wrote:Set sip to voip.freephoneline.ca/voip2 tried a call and as soon as I turn on the phone I get a device not registered message
No, a 5-10 second delay is not normal. Is this a delay before you hear ringing, or is this a delay where ringing would normally be?

Re: HT701 and FPL setup
sip register was set to lan not wan address.. I have just changed to wan and rebooting.. 5-10seconds is before anything happens (testing calling my cell phone.. as soon as my voip phone rings so does the cell phone.. only issue is this takes around 10seconds or so after i have dialed the number)
Just tested. With it set to WAN I was able to use voip.freephoneline.ca.. There still appears to be a bit of a delay though.. Doesn't really bother me I use my cell phone 95% of the time

Re: HT701 and FPL setup
Great! I'm glad to hear voip.freephoneline.ca gives you two-way audio now.
As for the delay, please try to set your dial plan to the following:
{ 911 | 1xxxxxxxxxx | [2-9]xxxxxxxxx | *98 | *x+ | 011x+ }
If that does not solve the problem, change it back to the default, and hopefully someone with more experience with this device will be able to help you.

Re: HT701 and FPL setup
Tried and still appears to be a bit of delay (maybe closer to 3-5 seconds with the new dial plan).. Its better though and its awesome that this system is now functioning correctly..
Thanks for your help so far.. Now time for me to dig up and print out a bunch of codes on how to use voicemail and calling features. I noticed that most configurations show to disable calling features is this normal or is there an alternate way to use calling features?
Thanks again
