Same number on mobile and desktop?

Hi all,

I understand Fongo and Freephoneline are separate products and that my Fongo username won't work with FPL. I have a Fongo number on my smartphone, and I was wondering whether there is a way to install the FPL desktop ap on my PC but have it use the SAME phone number? I don't mean transferring it from Fongo to FPL because then it won't work on Fongo anymore, I need it to work both on my mobile and my desktop depending on which one is logged in at a particular time (it's not necessary that they both work at the same time).

Unfortunately it wont.

The best work around I can suggest to you is to open a new account on FPL and sign into the desktop app with it, then in your online Fongo settings go to the call forwarding section and set it to ring both number simultaneously (IE add in your FPL number). What this will do is ring both numbers when a call comes into the Fongo number and you will be able to answer it on either device.

What it wont do is show your Fongo number if you make an outgoing call from the desktop app.

I guess that work around is the next best thing, though not ideal.

Any idea if fongo is working on a desktop ap for the future? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to be able to have the same number on both mobile and desktop.

They used to have one (back when it was Dell Voice I believe), but then removed it. The FPL version is the only one they do now, and that will probably not change.

if you have a iphone you can use an app called "Callplus" which will allow you to call from their voip app, and it allows you to have the call display show your freephoneline number.

So have it setup like this
- calling from phone -- Use Callplus (Which you have setup using your freephoneline number)
- Calling from desktop -- Use the freephoneline app on your computer

Receiving calls
-- Setup freephoneline to ring your fongo number continuously with your freephoneline app on your desktop
-- when a call comes in, it will ring in the fongo app, and the freephoneline desktop app at the same time, and you can answer it on either one

only caveat with this is you use a different app on your iphone if you want to make a call vs if you want to receive a call.

Hopefully that will accomplish what you want it to do.
