2 issues after configuring WRTP54G

Post by acawanted »

Hi,
I've been using my WRTP54G adapter (it has 2 VOIP lines) for Vbuzzer as Line1 for years, no issue.

Today I configured Line2 for FPL (according to the 2 configuration pictures from this forum), logged in, but am having 2 issues:

1. After plugging in for a few minutes my phone always shows "VM", can't make calls. I changed the "Message Waiting" to "no" in User2 tab, but somehow it always goes back to "yes" after reboot, not sure is this the correct place to look at;

2. Before the "VM" shows up I was able to make phone calls, I can hear the dial tone, but after I dial the numbers there's no sound at all. I dialed my cell phone, my cell phone can receive the call, answer it, hear what I say from this side, but I can't hear anything on this side.

Can someone help? Thanks in advance, I can provide more configuration information in need.

Hi again,
I had a work-around to get the issues solved, and I think I should share it in case it can help anyone -

I was using a 2WIRE 2701HG-G with Qwest firmware as modem+router (PPPoE, DHCP server enabled), the WRTP54G ("obtain an IP address automatically", and DHCP server disabled) was connecting to a LAN port of it. I've been using Vbuzzer with such configuration for years without any problem.

With FPL somehow the modem/router was blocking the inbound voice so I couldn't hear anything, while the other side (who received my call) could hear my voice. I'm sure there are some parameters in the Qwest firmware can do the trick but I don't have enough knowledge, or time to try them one by one.

So I set the 2WIRE in "Transparent Bridge" mode (it's just a modem now), and enabled PPPoE and DHCP server on WRTP54G to make it the router, now both lines (Vbuzzer and FPL) are working normally.

Another thing I noticed is that when I enabled the "STUN" it took long time before a call would connect, so I diabled the STUN and the delay is gone. Not sure is there any negative impact by doing this though.

Just my two cents. Any addtional information is welcome.
