Register Failed: 486 Too many requests

Post by numero0000 »

I have been using freephoneline for about a year with no issues. For the last few days all incoming calls are going directly to voicemail. This is on both of the two numbers/accounts that I have with freephoneline. No configuration was ever altered except in March when emailed to use voip.freephoneline.ca. Outgoing calls are working. I am using OBi110 and OBi202. The message that ATAs report is Register Failed: 486 Too many requests. OBi202 concurrently runs another SIP provider without any issues.

Thanks

Edit: after rebooting devices the new message is Register Failed: 408 Request Timeout. Outgoing not working too. Alternative SIP provider works.

Hi there,

Please verify that your OBI is setup as per FPL guidelines:

http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7968

http://support.freephoneline.ca/entries ... redentials

That will resolve the issue.

Thanks,

I have the same problem since yesterday, I have an obi110, obi202 and a Sipura SPA-2002.

After a certain moment of time my FPL line disconnect, when trying to reconnect got the 486 Too many requests.

Both obi110 & obi202 have preset settings for FreePhoneLine.ca. For my Sipura I have followed you settings, I did the same thing 2 weeks ago for another problem, it has resolved it, but not for this one.

Currently my 2 lines worked ok, but 10 mins ago one wasn't and I was getting the 486 Too many requests.

Any idea what can cause this problem?

Thanks

Hi there,

I think that your obi is causing the issue. Even if you adjusted the reg times, if you have a profile setup on obi website it will override.
From FPL guidelines:
http://support.freephoneline.ca/entries ... redentials

Registration Interval: 3600 seconds (1 hour)

Registration Expiry: 3600 seconds (1 hour)

Failed Registration Re-Try Interval:120 seconds

My suggestion is reset unit to factory defaults and reconfigure it as per the guidelines

Please send me a PM if you run into any issues,

Thanks,

Right on guys!!!

For some reason, the FreePhoneLine preset settings provided by the obihai team were partially wrong, the interval before new registration was set at 15 secondes only, far too short. That explained why we were probably getting the "486 too many requests" error.

I have changed it for 3600, so far so good.

I will let you know, if it's failed to register again.

Thanks again to pin point the problem

I will send a email to obihai tech support to have the settings fixed for FPL

OBi200 - freephoneline.ca - Can't receive incoming calls.

Post by hello »

Hello, i just bought a OBi200 and a VoIP unlock key from freephoneline.ca. I set everything up and I'm able to make calls, but every time someone tries to call me it goes straight to the voice mail. The first thing i did was change the setting in my FPL profile for number of rings before it goes to voice mail from the default 1 to the max 5, thinking that was the problem, but unfortunately it wasn't.

A few things i have noticed in both my FPL and OBi profiles that might mean something... In my FPL - SIP SETTINGS - SIP Status it says disconnected.

On my OBi Dashboard - SP1 - freephoneline.ca Account it says, Register Failed: No Response From Server.

Also under Settings - Edit Service Provider 1 it says RingCentral Account with some new boxes to input things for RingCentral, it has Authorization ID which has my FPL username in it. Password, which has a 6 digit password in the box which isn't my FPL password since it is a 8 digit password. User Name which is left blank. Not sure what RingCentral is but even after i deleted and re added my FPL account, it still shows that.

Hi there,

You will need to reset OBI to factory defaults- details below:

1.Reset OBI to factory defaults
http://www.obihai.com/faq/Troubleshooti ... tory-Reset
3. Add device to Obi portal
4. Select Freephoneline as a provider
5. Enter your name, sip user id and sip password
Name: "Your caller ID name"
User: "your sip user ID"
Pass: "your sip password"
6. click on submit
7. After 2 minutes, your device will be configured

Test the line and let me know.

Thanks,

Hello, i followed the steps that you suggested and nothing has changed.

When i initially chose and set up FPL through OBitalk portal there was no mention or setting for RingCentral. It was only after i added it and then went into Settings - Edit Service Provider 1 that it had these extra RingCentral options along with the initial FPL options.

Hi there,

If you follow that instruction it will work with no issues.

Otherwise you have to proceed with manual setup.

I did follow the instructions that you gave me, it didn't fix my problem. Outgoing calls are working fine, Incoming are not. They are going straight to voice mail.

Hi there,

Perhaps you need to adjust your settings manually.

Please refer to the document below:

Please pay attention to page 3 in particular.

I followed the guide completely and now when i try and call out it's not letting me complete a full phone number. For example, 012-345-6789. But when i dial a number it's only using 012-345-678. An operator comes on and says, The number you dialed was rejected by the service provider reason is 500. I tired multiple times and i also got a 482 number as a reason, another time the operator just said the number you dialed has not received a response from the service provider.

Hi there,

Perhaps you need to disable sip alg on your router

http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... der#p41110

If that is not working, please try to send me a PM
