Issues Running Grandstream HT702 via access point

Post by akoss »

Hi Guys,

I am having some issues running my HT702 from a wireless access point.

When I am plugged in directly to my main Bell router I have no issues and the phone is working well. When I am trying to connect it to a wireless repeater the line is unusable, the other party can only hear about 50% of what I am saying.

The Wireless repeater is a Linksys E2000 router running DD-WRT. I initially set is up as a wireless repeater and than as a wireless repeater bridge. When setup as a bridge DHCP is disabled and the repeater bridge is on same subnet as host AP (primary router). I can see the HT702 from the list of devices on the bell router.

The HT702 is connected to the DD WRT running router using an Ethernet cable, when I connect my laptop to the router and do a speed test i get 20-30 mbps. Also for testing the routers are in the same room.

Please help.

Tried setting up QoS on the DD WRT router. No improvement.

I tried setting up something similar to this a year or so ago. I had the same horrible experience as you are having and in the end gave up. To me it seemed that too many of the packets were being lost along the way and after days of messing around with it I didn't have the enthusiasm to look into it any more. I was getting other problems with Apple Chat not sending some messages when connected to the remote router which reinforced the notion to abandon it.

I'm sure if you set up proper routing for the packets it could be stable, but for me it was easier to just plug the ATA in on the main router side of things and use wireless phones (which we were using anyway) and suffer the very slight lower signal for those phones than had the base station been in a different place.

Sorry I didn't have better news for you, or an answer, but I thought I would share my experience.
