Phone transfer is complete. Do I need to cancel Bell?

Post by EliG »

I received email confirmation that my phone transfer to FPL is complete:

================================

Dear Fongo Customer,

Your phone transfer is now complete!

Please call your previous service provider to cancel your telephone service with them.

================================

Do I really need to call Bell to cancel the landline? I thought they would cancel automatically once they release my number. Is it not the case?

Thank you.

Hi,

The number is with us now. Please call Bell to cancel to ensure that you will not receive further Bills or Invoices from them.

Hi, I initiated a Phone Number Porting Request. The number is to be ported from Bell Canada to Freephoneline.ca. Its been about 8 business days and the request has not been processed. The account owner name corresponding to the Bell Canada Account and Freephoneline.ca are the same -- so i don' t anticipate any roadblocks but i feel the process got stuck somewhere.

Is there way to check what the request status is currently?

FYI, here's the timeline of my transfer.

Nov 3: placed $25 order to start the transfer

Nov 11: got an email notice from Fongo that porting would be complete on Nov 23.

Nov 23: transfer complete as promised.

Check your spam folder for any emails from Fongo. Also check your Bell account online. It should show an open service order, although it's not easy to find on the web site.
