Newbie - no connection to the server

Post by faqvideo »

1. Softphone installed on a single computer in the network. IP address changed to static 192.168.1.3, Windows Firewall OFF. Computer connects to the outside world fine.
2. Linksys WRT54GL router - UDP ports for the specified IP address 13000-13001 and 6060-6061 - enabled.
3. Softphone keeps showing "No connection" message, buttons inactive. Connection test times out.
I tried to be as specific as possible. Any ideas? Thanks!

The ports to open with the softphone should use TCP not UDP like you did.

Thanks so much for reply. I made changes to TCP - still no connection. Application suggest that port 13000 should be open. I seem to have opened it. Did not I?

Also open port 53, 69 and 16384-16482.

Verify also that there is no sgn of any kind (like $ or &, etc.) in front of your username or display name.

I do not mean to contradict you, but SIP usually goes through UDP. I may be corrected of course if that is not the case for freephoneline. In any case, open up both UDP and TCP traffic to the device to cover your bases.

I also noticed on the picture that port 6061 was open. I believe freephoneline's ports only go from 5060 to 6060. Again I can be corrected if wrong of course.

Yes most SIP goes through UDP, for the software you may need 13,000 & 13,001 and 6060-6061. For the ATA, you will need 5060 - 6061 - These can be changed on your device.

It's very frustrating. I've got possibly the coolest phone number from the freephoneline.ca, and can't make it work.
Is it me, my router, my computer, or something else?
