some calls going straight to voice mail?
I've noticed this happening once in a while for the past couple of weeks (if not longer) that some calls seem to go to straight to voice mail rather than ring my phones. It seems to be an intermittent issue that seems to reset itself when the ATA re-registers itself after 180 seconds. I've checked, doubled checked.. and even tripled check my firewall port setting to ensure everything is setup properly.
Seems to be that the FPL servers lose the ability to reach my ata at certain times until it re-registers itself.
any ideas? otherwise the service seems to work flawlessly.
thanks

Re: some calls going straight to voice mail?
Have you tried lowering your registration time? I'm wondering if something on your internet or router is timing out the connection and causing the ATA to "loose" our servers after a while.

Re: some calls going straight to voice mail?
I'm almost positive it's due to a connection being lost between my ATA and the FPL servers. I have a syslog tracker running, however I'm not sure how to read it properly to diagnose the lost of any connections.FPL-steve wrote:Have you tried lowering your registration time? Re: some calls going straight to voice mail?
I'm still experiencing this issue! I have several calls still going straight to VM and my phones not ringing at all. I've set my re-register to 90.jgionet76 wrote:I'm almost positive it's due to a connection being lost between my ATA and the FPL servers. Could you post your syslog in here in plain text?

I've put a sample in the post, and attached the full syslog in a .txt file so the post isn't 82 pages like before

Re: some calls going straight to voice mail?
From what I can see it is something with your UA contacting our proxy, could you try setting it as 208.65.240.142 and test a few outgoing / incoming calls to monitor for changes?

Re: some calls going straight to voice mail?
I already have my ATA set to use the IP instead of the dns name.admin wrote:From what I can see it is something with your UA contacting our proxy, could you try setting it as 208.65.240.142 and test a few outgoing / incoming calls to monitor for changes?

I changed it a while ago when I was trying to find solutions, it was stated that it often helps, some sort of dns issues sometimes.

Re: some calls going straight to voice mail?
Well I've had to pull the plug on this service until a solution can be found as to why this service seems to lose it's registration and send calls directly to voicemail. I'm back at using my old paid voip service for now

Re: some calls going straight to voice mail?
I've replaced my router and yet my ATA still continues to lose it's registration status with the FPL servers (so it seems anyways). This is causing some incoming calls to go straight to voice mail rather than ring my phones.
What are my other options? Set my ata to re-register every second? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

then how to I know if it's working or not? I won't be able to connect to it or track it's activity/status and it'll take the rest of my home network down. This is something that seems to be random.janmic wrote:Have you tried plugging the ata straight to the modem?
How can the syslog info not say what's the cause of the problem? or at least a hint? I'm even set it to DMZ as a test once.. same thing.
are ATA's known to fail like this? I have another paid ata device hooked up too and I've never experienced this with it. (it's locked so I can't check/chance it's settings - the paid/sub one)

Just remembered that the pap2t does not function as a router. Normally the pap2's are reliable ATAs although, there are some counterfeits out there(usually bought on ebay from china). Have you tried doing a factory reset and starting from scratch?jgionet76 wrote:then how to I know if it's working or not? Re: some calls going straight to voice mail?
Quick question #1: If you use your ATA with another VoIP provider as you seem to indicate, I assume it never fails to receive a call?
Quick question #2: What if you leave your PC on with FPL's windows/mac softphone instead of your ATA, will it stay connected and receive all calls?
