First few second of call inaudible

For every call I make or receive the first second or two are either inaudible or extremely distorted.

This is not such a big deal when I make a call as I don't mind not hearing the ring,
but when I receive one I have to wait 1 sec before speaking or the other end won't ear it
also with automated answering machine it can be very hard to tell what the first option was.

I'm using the latest "beta" version of the softphone and I have ports UPD 13000-13001, 6060 - 6061 properly forwarded.
I'm on Windows 7 x64 but I have also experienced this problem on x86.
Is anyone else experiencing something similar and is there a fix for it?

I'm using Kaspersky KIS, but I experience the problem even when I turn it off.

EDIT: I'm using an USB headset, could that be the source of the problem?

Turns out the problem was with my USB headset.
Everything works great with my non-USB headset.
