Cannot Call from Europe

Post by jovanvuc »

Currently I am in Europe. I attempted to call Toronto, Canada by utilizing my FreePhoneLine online phone 647 ......... (Toronto, Canadian number) from my laptop that I am currently using here in Europe.
However, there is no any successful call. No ringing, no connection established with the desired number.
Can anyone explain me what's the problem?
Am I able to use my online FreePhoneLine (Canadian number) to call Canadian phone numbers from anywhere in the world or from Canada only?
Thanks in advance for your help.

There was just a few problems that might have effected thing. FPL had some sort of maintenance going on which seems to have stopped a lot of calls from going through. I personally just got failed, or dead air.

Try again in a bit, you might find that it works again.

Calling within Canada is guaranteed yes, calling from outside Canada however is not; there are a lot of factors to be considered, including other countries ISP's blocking Canadian IP addresses for security purposes or otherwise.

Most likely internet filtering at their destination or in that country. We do not block or filter any IPs on our end.

A quick and dirty fix could be that you could get a voxalot account, and add Freephoneline as a voice provider. If you are using the soft client, you would have to go through some proxy or vpn, and I would not be confident in the results.

FPL do not block the IPs to the clients because as it is a Canadian company it should work, but what happen is no matter what country you are, the ISPs block the traffic and the filtering and it is in most of the cases hard to get them to make it work, I know this because it happened to me and I will give you 2 different solutions:

1-If you want to still use the Softphone I recommend a VPN free software (freeVPN helped me a lot :D, but there are more out there as well ) this will bypass the Italy's IP and will get a random one which will allow to get off the limit of your country.

2-Using an ATA is the best bet, this can work all over the work as long as you have Internet, but of course you would be the one to decide.

I hope this would clear up some doubts and question you would have.
