FPL "Follow Me Settings" issue.

Post by consistency »

I set up my "Follow Me Settings" to "Simultaneously" ring my FPL number and my forwarding number (cell phone) however I'm unable to call my home phone from my cell phone because FPL automatically forwards my call originating from the forwarding number (cell phone) back to the forwarding number (Cell phone).

Whoever programmed the under the hood "Follow Me Settings" made a huge mistake. Did they even test the feature? A call should not forward to the forwarding number if it originates from the forwarding number. It should ring the home phone.

I'm currently using HT812v2 ATA.

Yes, since that's the way Simultaneous Follow Me has always functioned for over a decade and since the documentation listed at https://support.freephoneline.ca/hc/art ... -Follow-Me was updated a year ago. Follow Me for Fongo Mobile operates the same way. I doubt they'll change anything for Freephoneline, but you can ask by submitting a "My Account Inquiry": https://support.fongo.com/hc/requests/new. You could also try submitting feedback as a Fongo Mobile customer (perhaps if they make a change for Fongo Mobile the change will be considered as well for Freephoneline users).

Alternatively, you could try using "Sequential", "Always Call Forward" for Follow Me. Then stick your FPL number at the top of the "Follow Me Numbers" list followed by your cell number. The number of rings in the "Follows Me Numbers" list for your FPL number must be less than "Rings before voicemail" under Voicemail settings if you want other incoming calls to eventually ring your cell when no one answers incoming calls on your FPL line. If no one answers the incoming call on your FPL line, the incoming call originating from your cell phone to your FPL number will likely reach your cellphone's voicemail system. I appreciate you may not want what I'm describing.

(General info)

These are user-to-user support forums. Fongo support staff is not obligated to respond or read posts here. Volunteer moderators do not have access to your account and can't resolve account-related issues since they don't work for Fongo.

Visit https://status.fongo.com/.
If "Support System" indicates "Partial Outage" or "Degraded Performance", ticket response time can take up to a week (or longer).

You can check your ticket status by logging in at
https://support.fongo.com/hc/requests. That's an account for tickets
(zendesk) only and is completely separate from your Freephoneline account or
any other Fongo account you may have. If you don't have a zendesk account yet, click "Sign Up" after visiting the link.
Use the same email address that you use to submit tickets. Do not use the same password as your Freephoneline or Fongo Mobile
account. Again, these accounts are unrelated.

This is the escalation process: https://support.fongo.com/hc/articles/2 ... -Complaint.

Support staff does not respond to tickets on weekends or Canadian holidays.
Support hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. EST.

Fongo does have https://twitter.com/Fongo_Support. I'm not sure if anyone
there responds to direct messages.

Similarly, they appear to be on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/FongoMobile/. I don't know whether they'll respond to you there.
Please do not send me emails; I do not work for nor represent Freephoneline or Fongo. Post questions on the forums so that others may learn from responses or assist you. Thank you. If you have an issue with your account or have a billing issue, submit a ticket here: https://support.fongo.com/hc/requests/new. Visit http://status.fongo.com/ to check FPL/Fongo service status.
