Call waiting on my freephoneline is not working. I am using SPA112.
What could be the issue?
Other than call waiting the phone is working fine.

Re: Call Waiting not working
Follow these steps, step by step, down the list.
1. While troubleshooting incoming call issues, disable Follow Me:
a) Login at https://www.freephoneline.ca/followMeSettings.
b) Navigate to "Follow Me".
c) Set status to "Disable".
d) Click "Submit".
2. a) Dial ****
b) Then dial 110#
c) Enter the IP address you hear into a web browser.
d) Login to your ATA. Default username and password are "admin" (without the quotation marks).
e) Always choose the admin login and advanced view menus.
3. Navigate to Voice--->Line tab used for Freephoneline (do this for both Line 1 and Line 2, to make sure)-->Scroll down to "Supplementary Service Settings"
a) Ensure CWCID Serv is set to "Yes"
b) If it's not, set CWCID Serv to "Yes", and then click the "Submit" button.
4. Navigate to Navigate to Voice--->User tab used for Freephoneline (do this for both User 1 and User 2, to make sure)--Scroll down to "Supplementary Service Settings"
a) Ensure CWCID Setting is set to "Yes"
b) If it's not, set CWCID Setting to "Yes", and then click the "Submit" button.
5. Do not accidentally dial *57 (*57 disables call waiting on all calls).
Dialing *56, instead, is okay since that enables call waiting.
6. Test with incoming calls.
7. If the problem is not resolved, try another phone and describe exactly the steps you're using to determine that call waiting isn't working.

Re: Call Waiting not working
To explain further, Freephoneline has 2 channels. That means a maximum of 2 calls can be active at any time. However, since both channels will be used when two active calls exist, no further incoming or outgoing calls will work.Liptonbrisk wrote: 04/11/2026 Follow these steps, step by step, down the list.
1. While troubleshooting incoming call issues, disable Follow Me:
a) Login at https://www.freephoneline.ca/followMeSettings.
b) Navigate to "Follow Me".
c) Set status to "Disable".
d) Click "Submit".
With Follow Me enabled, this happens:
1. When the first incoming call is from a non-Fongo (not FPL, not Fongo Home Phone, not Fongo Mobile) number is answered by the FPL line, all subsequent incoming calls to the same FPL number fail with 403 Auth Failed/Forbidden while the first call is active.
a. Any additional outgoing call attempted from the FPL line fails, while there's an active call on the FPL line from a non-Fongo number.
2. When the first incoming call is from a Fongo number (FPL, Fongo Home Phone, Fongo Mobile) is answered by the FPL line, a second incoming call to the same FPL number works, regardless of the incoming carrier number, while the first call is active. I'm also able to reach FPL's voicemail system this time without getting an error message.
a. An additional outgoing call attempted from the FPL line works, while there's an active call on the FPL line from a Fongo number.
In-network calling isn't from the outside world into FPL.

FONGO_steve wrote: 05/26/2010 When you use follow-me, both account channels are in use, much like having a 3-way phone call, except it's outside world into FPL, then FPL back out to follow-me
3. If an incoming call made to an FPL number is answered instead by a non-Fongo line (Rogers, Bell, or Telus number, for example) from the Follow-Me list, all subsequent incoming calls to the same FPL number fail, while the first call is active.
a) Any additional outgoing call attempted from the FPL line fails, while there's an active Follow-Me call on the non-Fongo line.
Inbound call---1 channel-->FPL number
and then
FPL number--->1 channel-->non-Fongo number
2 channels are used. No further calls can occur.
4. If an incoming call made to an FPL number is answered by a Fongo (Fongo Home Phone, Fongo Mobile, or Freephoneline) endpoint from the Follow-Me list (a Fongo number), a second incoming call to the Freephoneline number works, while the first call is active.
a. An additional outgoing call made from the FPL line works, while there's an active Follow-Me call on the Fongo (Fongo Mobile, for example) line.
Anyway, if you're going to test to ensure call waiting works, disable Follow Me first.
