Post by dp18 »

How do we know forsure if a call will be charged long distnace or not?
I know there is a list of cities but what about the surrounding cities?
for example, i live in Toronto but wheni call Thornhill it's not LD, however Thornhill is not on the list.

how can we be sure when we make a call?
thanks,

If you can't make the call it will say "this call is not covered by your tariff plan" then it will disconnect.

Also, if you go into the Announcements page on this forum, a message from today has the updated free calls area list. I think it's called On Net locations. :D

With a calling card, if you dial a 1-8xx xxx xxxx access number or a local city access number that is on the back of the calling card, Freephoneline would treat those numbers as local. But after dialling that calling card access number and after the PIN number in inputed, the phone number you then dial would be subject to the rates on that calling card, even if the number dialed is a local number.

I don't think there is a way for you to know, if you're using the FPL voucher,it's seamless. That being said, maybe there should be a pin to allow the long distance to go through. That will indicate that the call is a long distance call.

Let me pass these ideas around and see what we can do!

There will soon be a number checker on our website, which will allow you to search someone's number and know if it's a free or paid call.

Sorry, I indeed meant vouchers, not calling cards.

Ok thanks for following up on the suggestion.I beleive this to be an important feature in order to be able to control our costs. Also, we REALLY need to have a way of checking the curent voucher balance.
