SIP URI call status

Post by pablob »

Hi!

Is there an official policy against calling a FPL number using its SIP URI (1514xxxxxxx@voip.freephoneline.ca)?

When I try it, I get a "This account is not valid" pre-recorded message. I've seen some discussion about it, but I haven't understood clearly if it is a feature that will eventually come or if it will not be offered (I understand that non-PSTN calls don't bring any income, so I won't complain if you don't want to allow this kind of calls).

I am mainly asking because I would like to have family and friends in my home country being able to call me using one of the SIPBroker local access numbers. I would be willing to pay a small fee for this option (as long as it is not more expensive than the cost of the workaround, which would be using Voxalot).

Thanks!

At this time it's currently not a supported feature. Unfortunately I do not know if it will ever be, so I'm not at liberty to say a definite yes or no.

Thanks for the info!

Just to make myself more clear (in case somebody is doing some market research on whether to offer this feature), I'd rather use FPL directly to receive SIP calls, even if I had to pay a little more than what I would need to pay Voxalot for that.
