[RESOLVED - Sept 08 2010] Server Temporary Unavailable
Grammatical issues aside, the subject is the error message I am getting.
I am in Ontario and have been trying to get connected for over a week.
Can anyone shed some light on if this is a current/real maintenance ("Possible upgrade to the VOIP server is being applied at this moment.") or some other issue?
I am using the softphone.
Is there any other information you need?

Re: Server temporary unavailable
Please read other threads. The one below says "FPL Down?" and addresses the same issue. The server seems to be down and the outage widespread. So far, there has been no official word, but the problem started about 90 minutes ago, so they may be frantically trying to fix it as we speak.

Re: Server temporary unavailable
Our SIP Gateway seems to have had some difficulties this evening, we have someone looking into this and being dispatched to the servers location; I will be sure to update when I can.
Maximum down time 24 - 48 hours, however we are looking to have it resolved in 2 - 3 hours.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have it resolve as quickly as possible for you guys!
PS: I have locked all other threads and marked this as a global announcement.

Re: Server temporary unavailable
Umm. How is one to know to look for FLP? How many people know what FPL is? I come here to look for solutions to the problems I am having. I am glad the OP posted this link, this is how I was able to know that there are server issues or whatever this evening. As a suggestion, let's keep things simple and not use lingo the average person won't understand.evilmonkey wrote:Please read other threads. I am not going to complain too much....that's exactly it. You do tend to get what you pay for. I do like the Admin's attitude and he does seem sincere. That goes a long way in reducing the frustration.
I do think the time up top should be changed to PST, EST, or whatever time zone is here.

Re: [Sept 08 2010 - 20:30 EST] Server Temporary Unavailable
Well for those who have been asking:
The problem persists for just about everyone, whether you are using the softphone or a phone with the ATA device.
Most people are submitting from Ontario, I'm in montreal and the problem has been going for about 1h30-2h now.
I'm just disappointed to see there are so few "anti-failure" settings with their servers, it seems to me that when your server is the heart of your business, you want to keep it running nice and steady 99.999% of the time like any IT company does.
Thats all for my ranting, im probably more annoyed since this has happened twice within 2 months of service.
i hope this gets fixed quickly

they might look into that.. things to do to help out is either send a big donation or start making lots of calls.Askarii wrote:Well for those who have been asking:

makes me wonder if they thought of making a public phone downtown, free of charge. imagine the line up for it.. to even call long distance to any major city in canada.. what would bell think.. they might turn there phone booths to do random free charge calls.

I will have to enforce the matter of opinion in regard to the posts before beverlys last (about the fail safes, etc..). Users who have not had issue are not wrong, they have simply been without issue for the amount of time they reference.
mjbad2, in the case of all but two of the posts you added here (from what I read) they lasted less than 60 minutes - Yes, still an issue, but they were not global.

GREAT WORK FPL TEAM!!!!
I've been here for a while now, over 2yrs and very happy with the service.
GUYS its FREE...there will be intermittent issues if you don't like it go pay for service.
I'm very thankful for the team, they are always on top of it and very open in the forums...sure they can post on their website a small link directing you to the forms to understand the outage but think of the marketing that brings.
Thanks FPL!

Haha, that would be business suicide. You can't go around and make something so FAR OUT and better than others, or you become a target to eliminate. Especially against something as huge as bell (lord knows I hate that enterprise), they have the resources to kill a medium company.beverly wrote:they might look into that.. things to do to help out is either send a big donation or start making lots of calls.Askarii wrote:Well for those who have been asking:

But as for what kind of resources FPL needs for a server... I really have no idea. I'm aware of it being an investment on their part, im just hoping it's a priority.
