no incoming calls - outbound works great
Dear Forum users -
What other steps can i try to resolve my no incoming calls issue?
issue:
1. i ported my home phone number and inbound calls do not work
2. outbound calls work perfectly and correctly display the caller id
3. inbound calls go directly to voice mail
internet provider:
1. shaw cable
hardware:
1. i have a linksys sipura spa 2012
2. i have a dlink dir-615 router / firewall
steps taken:
1. called fpl tech support - they fixed it so calls now go to voicemail
2. called fpl tech support - they suggested opening firewall ports
3. i opened firewall ports - no help
4. i pointed firewall dmz to the ata ip - no help
5. this forum post
steps to take next:
1. plug ata directly to cable modem
2. review older forum posts

Re: no incoming calls - outbound works great
there is another issue with my network
1. i can't access the ata using a private ip from the lan - ie. 192.168.1.x doesn't work
2. on my router i configure a port forwarding to access the ata web interface on port 8383 - so from work i can go to http://wanip:8383
3. this is the only way i can access it from the lan as well!!!
4. i can't ping the ata lan ip from the lan either!
5. but from the lan http://wanip:8383 works fine

Re: no incoming calls - outbound works great
Are you having success when the ATA is directly connected to the Cable modem?
Another thing I want you to do is unplug the router, then unplug the ata. turn on the router, and then 60 seconds later, turn on the ATA. 60 seconds after the ATA power up, make a phone call to the freephoneline account on the ATA. Can you get a call through? If so, try it again an hour later, if it does not work then, I might have a solution.
On the ATA, set the SIP registration period from 3600 seconds to 180 seconds. That way the ATA can tell the router it still wants that port opened. Some routers will only hold a port for 2 minutes unless otherwise directed.
As for the 192.168.1.x problem, you should manually configure the ATA to something like 192.168.1.222, netmask likely being 255.255.255.0, and gateway likely being 192.168.1.1 I am also assuming, nothing else is already using that 192.168.1.222 IP. You should then be able to access the ATA when you punch in 192.168.1.222. I suspect it will make your port forwarding easier, and the the advice I gave you on SIP registration, less important.

1. Voice > Sip > SIP Timer Values (sec)
Reg Max Expires
Reg Retry Intvl

i am using a reserved dhcp lease registration based on the sipura spa's mac address - so it does have a fixed ipbridonca wrote:As for the 192.168.1.x problem, you should manually configure the ATA to something like 192.168.1.222, netmask likely being 255.255.255.0, and gateway likely being 192.168.1.1 I am also assuming, nothing else is already using that 192.168.1.222 IP. Re: no incoming calls - outbound works great
note - logging in with the softphone from fpl accepts calls fine
note - connecting the ata directly to modem still fails
i would buy the ata from fpl if i was sure it would work
anyone else using fpl in vancouver with shaw?

If I were you, I would configure my network and ata based on configurations that are working for others. If everything is working, then I will proceed on "advanced' configurations. But that is, if I were you.

You see, your ata is configured to port 5060/5061 and you are forwarding port 8383 to your ata. Tell me if you see something wrong in that configuration.

Re: no incoming calls - outbound works great
I am having the same problem with all incoming calls not working. Call reports show the reason for failure as "Normal Call Clearing". Can anybody help me with how to get this working again?
