DIR-615B2 and FPL

Post by oldt »

Hi, Guys

I am new FPL user and be happy to release my experience to configure DIR-615 B2 version for FPL
Link Nick said, DIR 615 previous C1 is known problem with VOIP, this is really bad router to use for VOIP, but if you dont want to invest a new router, my experience may be useful,

I have Rogers Cable, DIR615 B2 version with firmware 2.25 connect two PAP2-NA adapter, first adapter is set up for Vbuzzer and Betmax, there is no problem to use DIR-615 default setting, 2nd PAP2-NA adapter configure with FPL, it has a lot of problem, like following

No incoming call, or incoming call go to voice box, no dial tone, or no outcoming call, after struggling a week to set up router, finally, everything is done and FPL works perfect, except when call 1519xxx xxxx cell phone, the person cannot here me, but I can here him. I may need FPL-steve help to check what happen,

Here is my setting on DIR-615B2 version

1. Port forwarding 10000-20000
2. Deselect SPI
3. Select UDP endpoint filter to End point independent
4. Select TCP endpoint filter to End point independent
5. Enable DMZ
6. In application Gateway(ALG) deselect SIP
7. Enable QOS engine'
8. Use G711A or G729A, do not use G711u, I cannot hear voice from 1519xxxx when using G711u

Not so sure what security expose by above setting especially DMZ enabled, but it works for FPL, so if you want to follow, you take your own risk

FPL-Steve, could you please check why 1519 cell phone user cannot hear me while I can hear them, maybe like Nick said, Dir-615 is really problem for VOIP.
