Hello,

First, I want to thank FPL for this service. I currently use my ATA and bought the configuration file. Setup works awesome! Thanks! Secondly, a suggestion. I don't call overseas much, but do call the USA and Canada. Could we have just a Canada/USA plan without all those other countries? Maybe at say $6.95 per month for Canada and USA calling? Just a suggestion for all users that do not require overseas calling, and just want North American calling.

Calling the Canada-USA is the same price as Canada-USA-International so it would not be necessary for another package.

Any possiblity for per minute rates to call the US and abroad?

I want to drop my home phone and simply use FPL.ca's Canadian service... but I need the option to make calls to the US and abroad should the need arise (it never will but that is not the point).

Any chance of having per minute calling rates for Canada (outside the listed cities). This might be an option for someone like me who does not want to pay the $4 a month rate.

Please .. no flames, I am simply shopping and need info. Here is why I ask:

I have been shopping around for VOiP and this is what I have found on the cheap side:

Freephoneline: ATA ~$50, config +$50, full CA service +$48 (+ $20 to port, per min rates planned for US and Abroad).
Freephoneline: ATA ~$50, config +$50, CA/US/INT +$170 (+ $20 to port).
Acanac: ATA ~$50, CA/US service +$120 (free calls to US, no port, and 50 call limit).
Cantalk9000: (? locked) ATA $60, CA service $40 (+ $25 to port, per min rates planned for US and INT).

At the moment, to meet my needs, Cantalk9000 appears to the be best deal. I know you suggest your product is free, but if one wants to call all over Canada it is not free, its $48/year. Now I understand that Cantalk is a newbie and god knows if they will last over the long term. I should however note that folks say the same thing about FPL.

So with that, any chance of having per minute rates within Canada for the non listed cities. This option might be enough to swing me back to FPL. I am also worried that Cantalk is selling me a locked ATA (but there is no config docs to buy).

Kris:

I would like to activate oversea's call for $13.95 per month. I am currently using FPL with config file on my ATA.

Do I have to call an access number from my FPL account to make LD call (ie, to Australia) or do I just dial 011+country code+ area+phone direct from my ATA? Please advise. I am confused from what is listed on the website.

Yroc, as you see, I've deleted your last post. Considering this is a support forum for a VoIP provider which competes with other VoIP providers I really do not think it is a wise choice on your behalf to be advertising Magic Jack here. Intentional or not.

As for your other request, we are redesigning our website to integrate the automatic billing for purchases and per-minute calling as we speak.

Fair enough I will wait until the new year (and I hope new year means Jan, not April or June). For the record, I am not advertising any other VoiP service. As you fully know, I am an FPL customer... who is seeking out better service from your company as promised long ago in this same post.

The fact that your competition is offering the service I was looking for simply means you need to step up your game. Certainly you knew this was coming.

The suggestion box seemed like the right place to make myself heard.

If you are talking about my post on Sept. 4th it's been going since before then. 2 years actually. We needed to get big enough so it would be practical, work out all the costs, then finally implement it.

For us to interweave 3 systems into one without bringing the network down is going to be difficult and so we've been looking for alternate means of storing and processing information.

It's not that we promised it and decided you can wait, we had many drawbacks that the third party companies didn't reveal until we "signed the lease" so to speak.

Right now we are creating a "test" account with the company, basically adding all our packages and such then buying them all and seeing how all the systems communicate the order processing. I can't get a precise ETA tomorrow when the programmers are in.
