Today I called my FPL home phone (with an ATA) form my cellphone. 30 seconds of silence, then call failed.
I call again, more silence, then a beep. I suspect this beep to be the voicemail.
I call again, silence, then beep again. I hang up, and receive an email: voicemail from 5 seconds ago. So yes, it was voicemail.
From there on I kept calling. It would never ring, I'd have various amounts of silence, then the beep of my voicemail.
Eventually, I started to hear my voicemail greeting. It still didn't ring, but now at least I got a "semi normal" behaviour. My ATA appeared to be unregistered, so the followme tried my cell. Since I was calling from my cell, I couldn't forward myself, so it moved on to the next step, voicemail. At this point, this seemed to be very normal, except for the fact that my phone should be registered of course.
When I got home about half an hour later, I walk into my house to see all my phones ringing. Continously. There was no pauses between rings, it would just ring, ring, ring, ring, ring. I let it ring for a minute or two. Then picked up a phone, I heard beeps. Hung up. Didn't ring again. I pick up again, hear the dialtone for voicemail indication.
Everything's fine now.
My only conclusion: evil spirits have possessed my phone. I'll try to upload some garlic, perhaps apply a preist patch.

Re: Possessed phone line
Update: Can't make outbound calls form FPL. It says "That password is not valid."
Re-entered the password in the ATA, rebooted, all works well now!
Why would the ATA happily say '"Registered" if the SIP password is wrong?

Your device will register without a correct password because the TN on the device and SIP servers / domain are correct; you simply will not be able to make calls.laurent wrote:Why would the ATA happily say '"Registered" if the SIP password is wrong?
You know, Priest Patch exists - Blizzard uploaded it Jan 5th 2010 - Not that it'd help your device...laurent wrote:My only conclusion: evil spirits have possessed my phone. I'll try to upload some garlic, perhaps apply a preist patch.
