Canada Long Distance pkg, cannot get it to work - RESOLVED!

Post by marksy »

After close to a month of great and solid service I just signed up this morning for the Canada long distance package and cannot get it to work.

I dial the access number I was given, and then begin to dial the area code (without the 1 as I was told). The problem is that the dial tone never stops or goes away. What I mean is that the normal stop of the tone after you push a number or two never happens. After dialing all 10 digits (area code + number), I still have a solid dial tone.

I have had a couple of techs look at it and nothing has worked (they've even looked at my sttings). I've also changed and tried a different phone (as was suggested) with no luck.

Is there "one" setting I can look at?

Any ideas?

TIA

There's about 3 people behind me working on this right now too

I couldn't duplicate it when I sent you the screenshots, but now it seems when they're doing some more tests, they all can when using the same ATA and settings. We're definitely looking at our end.

Anyone else had this and been able to fix it at your end?

Thanks for the reply Steve. I wonder if you might be able to let me know an anticipated timeline for resolution (or even a best guess).

While I totally appreciate all that you and FPL staff do for us, I have just paid (yesterday) for a full year of long distance service that I cannot currently use. I also signed to port over my home phone number.

Service has been great so far, I just want to be sure that I can dial long distance and life will be grand once again :) .

Thanks again.

Knowing that you're porting, can you email me your Freephoneline number and I'll check up on that?

After all the messing around and driving to Kitchener today to get a new ATA, it ends up the long distance access code for Oshawa area is not working. Just on a hunch a tech (Paul I think) asked me to try the Toronto number and voila it worked.

So now I have two ATA's, I guess I might as wel lget another number :)

Thanks for the help Paul.....
