Hello,
I tired to search the forum for this answer but couldn't really find one.
Anyhow, I have a regular land line connected to my Uniden cordless phone and FPL on my PC. I just got the PAP2 ATA and wanted to know if I can have both lines (my FPL and landline) be connected to my uniden phone. Therefore, if someone calls my landline# or FPL#, I can answer both with my Uniden cordless phone. (my Unided cordless phone is not a two line phone so I"m not sure that this will be possible)?
Thanks

Re: landline and FPL
Plain common sense. You need a DUAL LINE phone in order to switch between the two phone lines. (Regardless if the phone line is traditional or voip line) e.g. Any phone with Line 1 and Line 2 switching capabilities.

Re: landline and FPL
Was the ATA purchased from us?..
We used to sell a device called a "SpeedTouch 780wl" which had a few great options, including a PSTN port, in which you were able to switch from your landline to your VoIP line simply by dialing a star code in the phone.

Re: landline and FPL
Yes, a Dual Phone line would work nice but I don't want to spend $$ to get another phone since I got my Uniden Cordless with 4 handsets just over a year ago. So was looking for a cheaper solution.
I guess inside the PAP2 I can alwasy forward my landline# to the FPL# and have my Uniden phone answer both lines that way. All the outgoing calls will be made through the FPL (so I won't have an option to dial out with the landline#). Also, I don' think that if someone calls me on the landline# while I"m using the FPL#, I won't be able to switch between the calls.
The ATA PAP2 that I got is from my friend (not purchased here). So I just wanted to test it out and see how it works. Another option is to get the Lynksys SPA-3102. Apperantly this has the same features that I'm looking for http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10027/ However, I'm not sure if FPL supports this devcie and if the SIP info will work on this device since I haven't tested it out.... If anyone has tested it, or knows if this is possible to use SPA-3102 that would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Re: landline and FPL
From an on-call technical standpoint (Calling into our office) we do not support any devices but our own. Now here on the forums though Steve and I will help some users, again, our jobs are not to troubleshoot third party devices, but to keep the peace around here.
A lot of users here; such as Bloodsong, TSellers, or tony_qc who are excellent troubleshooters in many different aspects - Networking, VoIP software/hardware - and can help you with any requests you may have.

Re: landline and FPL
Thanks for your help. I bought the SPA-3102 and FPL works beautifuly with it. I do have one small problem with the PSTN line though. Whenever I use the PSTN gateway to forward my unanswered calls to to my FPL# so they could leave me a message, I goes directly into my FPL voicemail account where the caller can actually retrieve all my messages instead. It doesn't prompt them for a password (which I have set up) but directly goes into my voicmail inbox where they can listen to my messages but I want them to leave a message instead.
I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this.
This is the dialplan that i used:
(P3<:6471234567>|xx.)
So that after the PSTN line rings for 30 seconds, it waits for 3 seconds where I could use the gateway to dial out. If nobody answers or dials out, then it goes to my voicemail.
Thanks

Re: landline and FPL
If you call your freephoneline number from your freephoneline account it will go straight to voicemail. It seems like your gateway is using the FPL account to call the FPL account as the forward, but since callers are calling into the gateway doing this, they are hearing the message that you should normally hear.igracgq wrote:Thanks for your help.
