I have my number ported and configured on my ATA which is always active. On occasions I want to open up my laptop and make a phone call with my softphone using my number. I have 2 questions about this.
1. Is this allowed to have 2 registrations on one phone number? The times I will be doing this is when I am away from the ATA so it would be a separate IP address registering.
2. If so, how does the ringing work? Does the phones ring only on both devices, the ATA and the softphone or only on the last registering device?
Thanks for any clarification that can be offered.

Thanks for the link, that's a pretty good explanation for my question.
