Hi,
My sister in law got hooked up (her number was ported) last week with the Linksys PAP2 I gave her and called me. It worked fine. For some (dumb) reason she went playing in the ATA configuration and messed it up. She called me and all I could find her to do was to reset it using RESET on her phone buttons. She then reput her FPL config in it with her username and password but could not receive nor make calls, had the "This call is not permitted..." message.
Tonight, by phone, we tried to fix that. First we arranged her modem firewall by allowing the correct ports.
Then went into the ATA and fixed some settings like ring tone, preferred codec and some others we could find explained. we also entered a primary and secondary DNS server (which is open DNS). Doing that we also saw that some settings like RTP Packet Size had been changed, so I assume that some other settings I don't know about have also been changed.
She lives in Alfred Ontario (613-679-XXXX) and I live in Hawkesbury Ontario (613-632-XXXX).
Now she can make out going calls to Ottawa (she called my FPL Ottawa number) but cannot receive a call from my FPL Ottawa number.
She also cannot make nor receive a call from my Bell line in Hawkesbury for which it is not a long distance with regular Bell. She gets the message "This call is not permitted..." + the 1st time she called me from her FPL line it did work calling me in Hawkesbury.
HELP
Thanks

Re: No service in calling rate center and more
If it is at all possible could you sent me screenshots of her Line 1 (or 2) tab where her FPL account is?
RTP Packet Size should be 0.020 FYI.

Re: No service in calling rate center and more
Thank you Kris.
I will be at her house Thursday morning so I will send you a screenshot then.
Yes we did fix her RTP Packet Size to 0.020. (it was set at 0.030 so it is how I figured some settings which we never talk about were changed).
P.S. I don't do abbreviations so could you please tell me what FYI stands for or is it to be added in the RTP Packet size?
+ Reading the forum I see a lot DTMF, what does it also stand for?
Many thanks

Re: No service in calling rate center and more
FYI, is just for your information
- As for DTMF, it is Dual-Tone Multi-Function which is those tones you here when you press the keys on your keypad.

If you have a good ear, you can actually hear the two overlapping tones made by the button press.admin wrote:FYI, is just for your information- As for DTMF, it is Dual-Tone Multi-Function which is those tones you here when you press the keys on your keypad.
And if you're REALLY really good, you can duplicate them simulntaneously so that you never need to push a button
