Incoming / Outgoing both are not working

Post by yacir »

hi
I'm using Linksys PAP2T device, and have Teksavvy DSL internet at home in Montreal. My fpl has been working perfectly fine at home.
Setup and configuration:
Internet = Teksavvy DSL
TP-LINK Modem+Router Combo
Linksys PAP2T device

Rightnow I'm in Tronoto and brought my linksys PAP2T with me, but it is not working at all here.
Setup and configuration:
Internet = Teksavvy DSL
speedtouch Modem
D-Link Router
Linksys PAP2T device

For the outgoing calls: I can hear the tone , but when i dial any number noting happens at all.(i.e. complete silence)
For incoming calls: When someone calls, the phone rings fine but when i receive the call, nothing happens (i.e. complete silence)

I suppose that it has nothing to do with location. as long as you have high-speed internet connection, FPL should work anywhere in the world as like other VoIP services.
Can you please help me understanding the problem?

hello
since it is working fine in Montreal, i think the configuration is not issue. (as we don't have region specific config ... only the time config is region specific).
what i suspect is the portforwarding issue....but i'm not 100% sure about it. in Montreal, i have a Modem/Router combo...but here I have separate devices.

Lets assume if it is a port forwarding issue...does the result explain it? I mean, is the router preventing traffic generated from PAP2T to pass through it?

Yes, it's possible. have you opened the port yet from your router and forwarded it to your pap2t? That's why I wanted the config - it would tell me/you what ports to forward. If you already suspected port forwarding, why don't you try fixing it?

Also, does it register properly? Check the firewall filters on the Dlink router too (if after port forwarding doesn't work)

The ports to be open are 5060-5061 UDP, 6060-6061 UDP, 53 UDP, 69 UDP and 16384-16482 UDP.

Just don't know how to do that in your router as I have a 2Wire all in one gateway (modem/router).

Keep us posted.

yes, i tried after forwarding the said ports (5060-5061 UDP, 6060-6061 UDP, 53 UDP, 69 UDP, 10000-20000 UDP and 16384-16482 UDP)...but with no luck
I also checked the firewall, and there's no rule blocking the traffic.

Now, i'm returning back to Montrreal....so i can't troubleshoot it further.
Anyhow, thank you very mcuh for your help...really appreciate it
thanks

does the router PPPoE out or the modem does it... try plugging the ATA in the dsl modem if the modem is PPPoEing out. if this works then its the router. you could try dmz the ATA and see if that does it..
