No inbound calls/outbound works

Post by silentmonolith »

I have been with FPL for at least 3 years. Recently, my ATA device is acting up. For some reason the DND feature is activating itself, therefore I am not able to receive calls.

What I've done so far:

-reflash the ATA-->works fine for a few hours/days then DND reactivates (when I pick up the phone I get 4-5 short beeps warning me it's active)
-do the *73/*79 trick which disables DND (beeps disappear and I am able to receive inbound calls), however it does reactivates after a few hrs
-I've accessed the web interface of my ATA and made sure DND service is off and all other "Block" options are also disabled.
-I've checked my FPL account to make sure call forwarding is not active (which never was)

Today I have also followed the detailed guide on how to set up all the settings (keep NAT alive etc) so I will see if this will make a difference.

Thanks.

is your ATA in DMZ or accessible via outside your network? It could be that someone is changing it for you.

No, it is hidden behind the router. No port forwarding, nothing.

I can only think that someone is activating them by accident then, maybe when checking voicemail.
If you go into your ATA and login as Admin, then go to the Regional tab; you will be able to delete all the star codes (if you don't use them that is) so then they won't be able to be set accidentally. Maybe leave the deactivate codes there just in case it sets another way, but delete the activation ones (*79,*72, etc)

Thanks Jake. I am the only one that uses this line and I never check my vm since it it set up to forward all the messages to email. I will disable those codes once my ATA goes rogue again. So far, it's been behaving well (aprox 24 hrs since I changed the settings from the guide I found on this forum).

Today when I got home, the ATA re-enabled the DND feature (or whatever feature that gets de-activated by pressing *73).

So what I did, I disabled it again by pressing *73, then under in the ATA/Regional web menu, I erased options *72/*73 under "Cfwd All". The ATA restarted then to my surprise, again I could not get any incoming calls (the 5 beeps were present with the dial tone).

Any other ideas?

Hi there,

You should probably update the firmware on your PAP2T:

http://software.cisco.com/download/rele ... ease=5.1.6

Please try and let me know.

Thanks,

Thanks your reply. That firmware was not compatible with my ATA. I have a PAP2-NA model. I was able to find an upgrade though: 3.1.23(LS)
I installed it and I'll keep you posted. Seems to be ok so far.

Update: even with the newer firmware, the ATA still re-activates the DND feature. Is this something on my side, or maybe on FPL's? ATA works fine for a few hrs-up to 24hrs then I have to punch in *73 again.

Re: No inbound calls/outbound works - SOLVED

Post by silentmonolith »

I think I solved the problem - I thought the DND service was the problem, but it wasn't. Since my problem was temporarily solved by punching *73, I realized that this has to do with Call forwarding.

Under "Line 1" there was a feature called "Cfwd All Serv: Yes". By switching it to No, I was able to get inbound calls.
