pap2 no longer working
I got home tonight and my Linksys pap2 no longer works. Blue lights flicker then go off, then red light goes on then brighter then the goes off, like its cycling. I plugged a phone
in port 1 and the dial tone follows the patten of lights, i get dial tone for 2 secs then quiet then dial tone comes back and it keeps cycling like that.
So i dont know if its stuck on self test ?
We had thunderstorms today and a power outage.
But i also received yesterday by email from support@freephoneline my sip configuration ? why is that ?
i tried leaving it unplugged for 15 min but no change.
thanks for any help.

I don't know much about hardware but if it'd happen to me I'd do a full reset of the ATA.
Get into the ATA by dialing **** on your phone then 7 3 7 3 8 # (which is RESET if you check the letters corresponding) then 1 to confirm (after 73738 a voice will ask to confirm).
then wait 3 minutes and put back your settings in. Follow this brilliant tutorial it will help you put back your settings fast and easy.

Keep us posted and good luck.
P.S. You got your SIP config because the upgraded the system and it automatically did that to some of you. Nothing to worry about.

Re: pap2 no longer working
thanks callopsitte for your reply.
But i have no dial tone, its not accepting any commands. Its like its in a loop and not initialized.
I am thinking of buying a new voip ata box as i really need this line back up.
Are all Grandstream devices supported by Freephoneline ? thinking of the HT502 or HT503. If not Linksys SPA2102 but i think thats the same device as the HT502?

I should have also mentionned that even if you don't get any tone at all you can still get into your ATA configuration by pressing the corresponding keys. 4 times the star then whatever command you want to go into. So maybe you can just try pickup your phone press **** and see if you can hear a voice prompt. If so nothing is lost. You just need to dial the command you want.

Sorry to hear that Bluebirdnet.
That is all I know of. Hopefully someone in the forums can follow through with more knowledge of this.
Just out of curiousity, was your ATA plugged through a power bar?

Re: pap2 no longer working
Thunderstorm and electronic devices do not pretty good alone, I would recommend to update the firmware but as you said "it is not giving you dial tone" and unfortunately that ATA does not have a reset buttong, just like the old saying says "if something is broken, do not fix it".bluebirdnet wrote:I got home tonight and my Linksys pap2 no longer works. Regarding to the Grandstream yes FPL support it, I have a GS HT-286 and works pretty good well, who knows maybe that was a signal of a new change (Sorry I do not mean to be sarcastic but I want you to see it in the bright sight bro

I hope hearing you got a new ATA and it is ready to rock

Re: pap2 no longer working
Most electronic devices are made in China. But some are assembled in the U.S.A.. The really big difference is the name that is finally put on it and maybe the final testing. If he bought on ebay rather than here then the warranty won't be of a year and that's the loss.
So I suggest he buys one from FPL. 1- They lowered their price to $49,99. That's not much higher than from ebay (excluding shipping) and will give him a better warranty (I wouldn't write that if the price was 600% higher like many greedy canadian store do).
2- Buying from FPL will help them expand and secure their network (and maybe implement very much sooner in Hawkesbury lol).

Re: pap2 no longer working

I came home today to find that my Motorola PAP2T-NA is fried...solid red power light. Of course I know that it is counterfeit...the MAC is for Motorola...I bought it from ebay from a "reputable" hongkong ebayer. It's barely 3 months...

To all those who are planning to save some money by buying ATA from ebay (especially from hongkong), learn from my mistake. Your best bet is to buy from FPL as the price is very competitive, if not lower than canadacomputers. You will also get support and (I'm not sure about this) warranty.
Now, I will have to dust off and convert my D-link DVG1120-M to DVG1120-S so I can use it with FPL...wish me luck!
