One way audio with Belkin F7D5301 v1 sometimes

Post by BlortBlort »

When I reboot my router I get one way audio (I can hear them, they can't hear me) only for a while (an hour) and then it works fine.
I've forwarded ports 5060, 5061, 6060, 6061, 13000, 13001 and I've added the ATA to the DMZ.

I think I've set things up properly because it works after the first hour just fine. When I connect the ATA to the modem directly it works fine so I think it's a router setup issue.

I'm using a Grandstream HT701 for my ATA.

Any ideas?

You need another router. There are some routers that are not good, but you can work around the bugs. You cannot with a Belkin. Despite what the user interface tells you, Belkin routers have a history of not forwarding the ports correctly to your ATA. I am not making this up, Belkin makes routers that are that bad!

I have my doubts your router is up to the task, but your ATA needs an incoming RTP port mapped to it from the router. The default RTP port from a HT701 is usually 5004, but make sure to confirm when you check the ATA settings.

I would strongly recommend you find another router, preferably one that can use a 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT.

I forwarded the RTP port (5004) as well and it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions on a router?

This looks to be the deal of the week. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/ ... 65e28aen02 You can try it with the stock firmware. If all is good, no real point in installing DDWRT.

Here is how to install the DDWRT firmware. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/DIR-615C

See what you can do to put the modem in bridge mode. You do not need another router to confuse matters, as most modem routers are pretty awful.
