Hello there,
I have been reading through the forums trying to find a solution to my problem. Basically, I have setup a HT701 GrandStream ATA for a friend.
The Good:
He can receive calls and enjoy a conversation.
The device registers fine.
The Bad:
When making a call, the other party can hear him, but he can't hear anything! (not even ringing). It's strange to experience when testing it.
Steps already taken:
Forwarded the following ports on his router: 5060, 5061, 13000, 13001, 5004, 5005 (The last two ports were for RTP specific to the ATA)
The ATA has been setup according to this guide.
Tried setting up a STUN server to no avail. (The instructions state NOT to but one person on the forum had success with this)
Set the ATA to DMZ on the router
Disabled the SIP ALG on the router.
Tried a different router (DLINK) that I successfully tested offsite with this ATA (I thought it might have been his router)
Hardware:
HT701 ATA
LINKSYS EA6400 Router
Second Router: DLINK..something. (I dont have it with me right now - I can get it if needed)
I suspect that it has something to do with RTP routing - i wish i knew what was so special about sending calls because receiving calls works. If i knew, maybe there is that magic setting that I missed.
Hopefully some of you smart SIP/FONGO folks can help a guy out.
Thanks!

Re: Outgoing Calls - One Way Voice - HT701 ATA
It looks to be an RTP issue. The router does not have the smarts to route the correct RTP port to the ATA, so the router needs a little help.
I would get the router to map RTP port 5004 to the ATA. Port 5004 is the default RTP port for the HT701, but if it is different on the ATA, change accordingly. Save everything, then power down the modem, router and ATA, to assure the saved settings get used instead of what is in the device memory.
As for mapping the other ports, you probably do not have to do that. The ATA does not need them.

Re: Outgoing Calls - One Way Voice - HT701 ATA
Thanks for the reply.
The other ports were forwarded after I had specific trouble with this issue. I was drawing straws so to speak.
I have forwarded both RTP (5004) and RTCP (5005) as stated in the original post. Page 36 of the user manual stated that RTCP is RTP +1.
I had done some further testing and moved the physical router behind a different ISP. I had the same issues and all of the ports are setup. I then plugged the ATA into a DLINK DI604 (behind the new ISP) and it worked like a charm (in fact, I have no port forwarding setup on the DLINK).
At this point I think that the router is inherently incompatible with FPL or VOIP in general.

Youch! Yeah, the D-Link DI-604 router is a bit of a stinker. Here is a decent priced router. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/ ... 65e28aen02 The default firmware stinks the place up, but if you add a 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT to it, you get a decent performing router on the cheap.
