Forwarding my phone calls using one of myfab5 #.. is it doab

Post by Tinku »

I have a quick question for gurus here, I recently upgraded my plan to myfab5, if I add a freephoneline # as my fab5 # and then forward the calls from this # will it work ?
The myfab5 is canadawide calling, I tried the call forward works fine but the # on the screen is the phone # of the person calling and not the freephone line #.

Any comments on how I can make this work or is it not doable ?

Currently we do not offer the feature you're speaking of, which would be instead of preserving the original caller ID of the person calling, replacing it with your freephoneline number.

Do some hunting/legwork around the forums here, possible? Yes, not as an FPL Service.
You will have to buy your config file and use an asterisk system to route the calls instead of follow me.

I don't know where this falls on the TOS.

check Skype to Go Number if it solves some of your problem.
I am using Telus one number unlimited with that.

If you have a PAP2T ata you should be able to program it to forward all calls to your number. You would have to buy the config file and the ATA though. (about $100). Doing it this way it will have your FPL number as the number that calls your cell.

The OP has a PAP2T with an old firmware according to his profile. It seems that he does not know how to program the PAP2T to make forwarded calls show the FPL number (I don't know either, ;) but then I don't have any use for it), rather than the original calling party's number. Maybe you could share, if in fact it is doable, without going the pbx route as suggested above.

Sure. I have a different firmware version (5.1.6), but I would guess that the earlier one has a similar thing on it.

If you log into your PAP2T ATA and click on the user 1 tab (assuming this is the line you have set your FPL number on) and at the top you will see 'Call Forwarding'. Simply put your phone number in one, or more, of the boxes. If you want all calls to go to your other number, then put it in the first box (Cfwd All Dest:). As you will see you have the option to forward on busy, or forward on no answer also. There is a time setting on the forward no answer box also.

You could also get a little creative and play around with the boxes below that allow you to forward the call only when certain numbers call in. It might take a bit of playing around with to set it up how you want, but it might work for you.

I think you missed the OP's point. He wants to see the forwarded call to show his FPL number on his cellphone when a party calls his FPL number.

He can already forward calls from his FPL to his cellphone, see quote below.

I believe the real answer to the OP's question is already given by admin (Kris), to quote:

OK, if you say so. I don't think I did, but OK  Did you try the way I suggested?

Maybe you misunderstood what I explained.

What should happen is -
The call comes into his ATA set up with his FPL number.
The ATA will then forward the call to his cell. The ATA doesn't (or at least mine doesn't) just forward the call, it creates a new call to the cell and then patches the two calls together. The number that rings his cell will be his FPL number.

Isn't that the whole point of his question?

:D Hey, this is nice to know.

But I never had any success to make it work when I tried it a few months ago.

Other than Jake, is there anybody out there who can verify that this actually works? 8-)

I'll give it another try tomorrow. ;)

UPDATE:

It DOES NOT work. It did not work 3 months ago, why should it work now? Kris just stated above that they do not offer the feature.

If anybody insists that it works, post a screenshot of your PAP2T settings...that includes Jake.
