FollowMe question

Post by jasonchu »

I recently registered with FPL for a Montreal number (area code 514) and I use the FollowMe feature to forward all the calls to my Toronto cell phone (area code 647). I wonder if this is free or not. Will I be charged for any LD fee? Or I will not as the number forward to is one of the "free long distance cities"?

Please help.

Thank you very much.

Will depend on your cell provider...
Call forwarding is simply forwarding their call to you, skipping the FPL service. If you're forwarding a local number to a local number then you're fine but if they're calling from a long distance number then you might incur incoming long distance fees on your cell phone. You'll have to give your cell provider a phone call to see what your plan includes.

Most of my relatives are in Montreal and that's why I applied for a Montreal number but I actually live in Toronto, so when my cell phone rings when the calls (from the FPL number) get forwarded, I will not be charged for any inbound LD from my cell provider.

So, basically FPL will not charge me any LD if I forward the Montreal FPL number (area code 514) to a Toronto number (area code 647). Is it correct?

Please help. Thank you very much.

Yes, you are 100% correct. If your cell provider doesn't charge incoming LD fee's than you are home free in that case. Forward your "Montreal" phone number to your cell and have fun talking!

Question: From your feature page - "Enjoy the benefits of being available wherever you are. Our follow me feature allows you to enter up to 3 phone numbers where you wish to be connected when you are logged off your free phone line account.",

I can only find one place to setup forwarding options and it only has room for 1 phone number - am i suppose to do it 3 times to setup ip the 3 numbers or how do i do it?

Thanks

No, FPL can only be forwarded to Canadian numbers.

I am trying to get the followme feature working but I'm having issues with the number I'm forwarding to. My phone number is a 604-799-XXXX number which isn't accepted for some reason. I've tried several other 604 number that all work find, but it won't accept mine. Why???

Thx,
Rtek.

The reason, is that Chilliwack BC is not in our ON-Net calling area (On-Net means we can call these areas for free, Off-Net numbers need to have "premium routes" assigned to them which in turn have a per-use fee associated with them).

There are a few area's that you will encounter this issue with but remember we're always expanding our coverage area both free calling and areas in which we can provide you with a free phone number!
