One way voice (WRT54GS) router

Post by jalalfares »

My ATA is a linksys SPA-3000 connected to Linksys router WRT54GS.
I configured the ATA axactly as by the configuration sent by FPL.
I can make calls with no problem at all but when i recieve a call, the caller can hear me but i can't hear him. the problem is constant. I opened all kind of ports in the router (5060, 6060, 16382-16384,69,53..etc) did not work. I tried DMZ..didn't work. I upgraded the firmware of the router...didn't work.
When i use my other VOIP account with acanac on the same ATA and the same router...no problem at all.
I know for sure that it's the combination of FPL and the WRT54GS what is causing problem. Because when i connect the ATA directly to the DSL modem it works. And when i use my ATA with a diffrent router (a friend's router) it works.

And by the way, i can not recieve calls with my soft phone at all.

is there anything i can do to the router or to the ATA that would enable me to recieve calls normaly or i have to get another router?

Thanks a lot

You also have to open up an RTP port and or range. Find out what your ATA is using.

On a side note, the WRT54GS router firmware really stinks. I think it would be worthwhile to change it to DD-WRT firmware. Ports are a lot easier to configure.

Thanks for your reply

I tried opening RTP ports (16384 - 16482) and i flashed the router's firmware with DD-WRT.

What happens when you directly connect the ATA to the modem? If it works, you still have port forwarding issues you have not fully addressed. You on DSL?

Hm, I'm running that exact same router with DD-WRT at home right now and had no problems. I didn't even need to setup port forwarding because the regular NAT traversal of freephoneline worked just fine.

thanks any ways

I'm trying it now with a diffrent router. It's working fine. but the only issue now is that when i place a call i don't hear it ringing (the dialing ring) but the phone called rings and the call can be answered with no problem.
No problem now with receiving calls.
i didn't touch the ports yet.

thanks a lot
