Replacing a free phone number with a ported phone number?

I'm going to sign up for a free phone number through Fongo and then use an app for my devices (Android/Apple, etc).

Down the road, if I am happy with the service and decide to port my home number to Fongo, would my ported number just replace the free number that was associated with the email address I used to register with?
