Hello,
I have purchased the ATA and moved my home line to Fongo Home Phone for 4.95$ per month. Can I now port my number to FreePhoneLine and use the ATA to save myself the $4.95 per month?
What will this cost me? $25 to port again?
Do I need to pay the $50 for the SIP configuration file if mine is already setup for Fongo Home Phone?
Thank you.
Switching from Fongo Home Phone to FreePhoneLine

Yes, it will cost you $50 to get SIP settings, and another $25 for a porting fee to switch to Freephoneline. It seems to be a way for Fongo to add to their revenue stream, but considering what they offer a lot for free, they need to pay their bills somehow.

Is there any advantage to using Fongo Home Phone over freephoneline? I am good with technical setup details.

The main advantage is support, and I suspect that if ever there was a problem Fongo's servers would get attention before FPL's (although they most likely will never say it).
I do know that they are not too keen for people to switch from Fongo to FPL (I will leave you to try and guess why), so you may have a bit of a fight on your hands. Last I heard the online form won't allow you to add in a Fongo number (of FPL number for that matter) so you will have to open up a support ticket and try and get service that way.
If you are allowed to switch, then it will cost you the $25 porting and $50 unlock key as long as you have your own ATA that is.

Yes I do understand
Interesting that they do not allow me to select a Fongo number in the port settings.
For some reason I was under the impression that I couldn't still get a phone adapter setup for FPL, that is my mistake.
Supporting a local company is fine with me
