calling from hotel

Post by ninja »

I'm using the softphone. How do I make a phone call using the softphone if I don't have access to the hotel router to port forward?

If it does not work, you got a problem, I am afraid. :( Short of VPN gymnastics, there is likely not much you can do :(

Sounds like the hotel is tightly filtering their internet traffic. Unfortunately if it doesn't work right away, then it likely won't work (unless you can convince hotel IT staff into changing their security settings)

Are you overseas? I have experienced FPL softphone failing to register if you are outside the country. Nothing to do with port forwarding.

More and more hotels overseas are getting smarter and limit their internet usage. Especially in some parts of china, they actually limiting or even disable the use of any voip ports. (Bastards!)...
