Hi,
I registered, had my pin call, downloaded the softphone, installed it, opened udp 13000, allowed comm outside via windows firewall and the phone rings when I call it and I can dial out. It seems like there is a connection made but I can't hear anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Luis

instead of clicking "allow" through the firewall when the softphone opens, also set the firewall to allow UDP ports 13000-13001 and 6060-6061. You can set those in the manual exceptions page of the firewall settings.

Re: phone rings but I don't hear anything
I opened up the ports as suggested and the problem still exists. There is no manual config in windows firewall ...
any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Luis

Turn the firewall off temporarily and test. If you get audio, then we can work on fixing the firewall. Otherwise, the issue will be elsewhere.

Re: phone rings but I don't hear anything
I turned the firewall off and still no audio. I tested the connection and it stated thaat call service was OK and sound data transfer was OK.
So just to re-cap, I launch the softphone, choose the first of three ips that are in my ip drop down and I try to make a call. The call seems to connect but no audio.
Thanks,
Luis

Have you forwarded the ports in your SMC 8014WG router? And why do you have 3 IP's? Are you connected to multiple routers?

Re: phone rings but I don't hear anything
I don't know why I have three ips - I only have one router. I have not forwarded the ports in my router. I don't know how...I will call Rogers and see if they will help me with that.

Re: phone rings but I don't hear anything
All the IPs that the softphone detects are the various ip addresses your computer gets. Only one of them gets you to the internet.
It can be tricky to find out which one is the right one, but you could assume that if one begins with 192.168.0 or 192.168.1 or 192.168.2 then it most likely is that one.
As for the port forwarding, read this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/networking-s ... 102626.htm
