phone number does not work

Post by mtle »

Hi,

Today, when I call home I get the message "Your number is not in service. Please, check your number..."
I called tech support. Tech support lady said everything is fine and my device is registered.
I wonder what is happening here? Should I get to my voicemail if my device does not work?
Can someone please explain what happen?
Thank you.

NIS might possibly be caused by packets from the server to your device not properly working. Most likely due to something at your end filtering them. Tried the ATA directly on your modem?

Thanks for your reply, Steve.
Last night I reset my server then it worked. I checked this morning b4 I left - it worked.
I just checked again a minute ago - it did not work!? Strange!
I'll do some test tonight when I get home.

I wonder if your router (or modem?) is closing the ports or timing out that connection somehow? Have you setup port forwarding? Might be worth a shot if you haven't.

You can also try lowering the registration time in your ATA lower (but no lower than 180 if you can help it)
