Linksys Configuration for PAP2 Using Phone LInes
When I try and configure both jacks of a Linksys ATA PAP2 only one phone works. How can you use both lines. I remember seeing something on this forum but can't seem to find it now that I need it.

You need two SIP accounts for that, which will result in two separate phone lines. Is this what you want to do?

I have to 2 sip accounts and that's what I want to do. I had both hooked up but only one would work. I enabled Line 2 but then line 1 didn't work.

Make sure your Line 2 account uses ports different from Line 1.
For example, in PAP2, you might have for line 1: "SIP Port: 5060", then for line 2 you will need: "SIP Port: 5061"
Then of course, set your router to forward those ports to the same IP (your ATA).

You're welcome.
IP telephony is quite complex, internet routers are complex, and SIP ATA devices certainly are complex as well. We're using all 3 together at the same time. There's bound to be issues here and there. There's a lot to learn, that's for sure!

Re: Linksys Configuration for PAP2 Using Phone LInes
Hi,
I have 2 SIP accounts.
Internet: Bell Essential Plus.
ATA Adapter: Linksys PAP2
Port: Line 1 – 5060
Port: Line 2 – 5061
Line 1 works fine but Line 2 registration fails. Then I went ahead and used the 2 Linksys 3102 adapters. Again one of them works fine. When I have two of them on, one of the works fine but 2nd one fails to register.
BTW, the ata adapter that I turn on first works fine, the second one fails. I have even reversed the order, same deal.
I wonder if you know how to fix this issue?
Thanks
Regards
Baskar

Re: Linksys Configuration for PAP2 Using Phone LInes
SIP requires two ports, one odd, one even, for each line. When you set lone account to use 5060, you're also going to use 5061 simultaneously.
Therefore:
1. Set line 1 to use 5060 and line 2 to use 5062.
2. Make sure you forward UDP ports 5060, 5061, 5062 and 5063 to your PAP2 device.
Therefore:
1. Set line 1 to use 5060 and line 2 to use 5062.
2. Make sure you forward UDP ports 5060, 5061, 5062 and 5063 to your PAP2 device.

I had it line 1 - 5060 and line 2 - 5061. Now I have modified it as per your suggestion but still same deal unfortunately
Thanks

Re: Linksys Configuration for PAP2 Using Phone LInes
hmm.. sorry, I'm out of ideas
Can you see them both display as "Registered" in the web config panel of the Linksys ATA?
