Hello
I have a home phone number for over 30 years. It is used less frequently but friends and family knows the number so I want to keep it.
Can I port this number to a mobile Fongo account (IOS on my Iphone 5) ? I do not think I will use it enough use the Fong Home Phone option.
If I can use the mobile option and later decided to move to Fongo Home Phone, can this same number be used?
If my only option is Fongo Home phone option, and I have a Unlocked VOIP Adapter (it is compatible with Fong) will this still work?
Thanks
Ted

If the telephone exchange is supported by Fongo, I do believe you can get you land line ported over to Fongo mobile for $25. Once ported over, you can also use the Fongo Desktop client as well as the mobile client, just not at the same time.
If you do decide you want SIP settings for your VOIP ATA, you are best off getting service from Fongo's sister service, freephoneline.ca For a one time fee of $50 to cover the cost of the SIP settings, and $5 to port between Fongo services, you will no longer have to deal with a monthly bill.
So in summary, you can port to Fongo, and that costs $25. You need to switch to freephoneline.ca to get SIP settings, and that costs $50. There is also a $5 porting fee if you port from Fongo's services. Or for $75, you can directly port to freephoneline.ca and get SIP settings. Once you have the SIP settings, you can use any SIP client, the iphone also has some decent SIP clients.

These are the numbers that can be ported into the network. As long as your town/city is here you should be able to do it.

It's then up to you what service you use it with as Bridonca said. If you do want to change between services you can move your number between them, but there is a $5 charge.
