Freephoneline/fongo desktop app - no sound!

Post by mcworld »

Hi all,

Have the fongo/freephoneline app downloaded to laptop. Had no issues using the app until now. For some reason I cannot hear the other party when making outgoing calls nor can I hear the other party when receiving incoming calls. Yet they can hear me. Cannot hear dial tone/ring tones when making outgoing calls as well. Re-downloaded app, reset as default, etc. and nothing works. Tested the line via settings and says response is OK. Made a tech support ticket but auto-email response says they dont deal with desktop/laptop version of app, wtf... The email says ticket # automatically closed. What is going on? Do I need to switch VOIP providers??

Any technical advice folks?? Thanks.

The Rogers Hitron CGN3 has a reputation for being one of the most VOIP hostile modems out there! To get it to work with Fongo, you would have to upgrade the Hintron firmware, put the modem in bridge mode, and get a proper router, preferably one that can be flashed to DD-WRT firmware. Absolute stupidity what you have to do.

It is a crying shame that a Fongo tech still has to deal with this stupidity. The correct answer is that Rogers purposefully pawned garbage hardware onto you. I am not a Fongo tech that would prefer to keep his job, so I have no issue stating that.
