BudPhone needs input and priority settings

Post by kwk »

im a game modder and tester (see Multi Theft Auto) and i have been using budphone for a few months now.
i like the budphone but to make it close to perfect i think these changes would make a world of difference
it would result in alot less call trouble and more user satisfaction in the end :D

these are the most annoying issues ive found
1 Input setting

in most other computer aps that use a mic there is a way to set the soundcards rec input. (mic, mic2, aux, etc)
this would benefit budphone and probably the other freephoneline aps in situations like i have described here.

my tv capture card has this setting, so when it runs if the soundcard isnt set to the correct input (linein2) it sets the soundcard input to the one specified in the settings so i can hear the tv tuner.

this is good
the problem comes in later
whenever my budphone rings i must maunaly bring up my soundcard mixer to get the mic set as the rec input again, or else the caller cant hear me speak.

budphone and probably the others need a similar setting
it should work like this
when you send or answer a call the soundcard rec input gets switched to the one you specify in the settings (mic)
this way the input is switched to the one you need for the call to work properly every time.

i dont think im asking too much here
on a pc its hard enough to answer a call in time without having to set the soundcard input manualy as well.
(getting out of a game to desktop, turning off speakers, looking for headset, bringup budphone, click answer, etc)

it makes me crazy when i finally get to answering a call and the caller cant hear me and by the time i can figure that out and switch the input to mic manualy the caller hangs up.

2 Priority Setting

in my opinion budphone badly needs a process priority setting for use during calls
ive noticed on my old single processor pc if budphone isnt the ap in focus during a call(browsing the web), the call is very choppy and breaks up.

if i go into task manager and set the priority for budphone to above normal this breaking up doesnt occur, and you can browse etc with budphone in the background during a call without the call going to crap.

That is probably not going to happen for while, due to the limitations of the programming language used. It would be nice if I was wrong though.
