Hi everyone,
I'm new to FFL as I just registered 2 weeks ago and I have never used VOIP before. I paid the fee to have my existing land line with Bell to be ported over to FFL. Yesterday I received a call from Bell that a there has been a request from another provider to have my services cancelled as of Dec 31st at 12:01am which is tonight!!
Is there a way for me to check if the number has been ported over to FFL? Or do I have to wait until tonight for the request to be processed? Right now my account still shows my 647 number that I got the day I registered.
Thanks in advance everyone!

If you or someone calls your phone number with a cell phone, what rings? Your landline or your FPL phone?

My FFL number is active but I don't have my ATA currently plugged in to my router. I know it works, because I tested it two weeks ago.Mango wrote:If you or someone calls your phone number with a cell phone, what rings? Your landline or your FPL phone?

Right now my land line is still plugged into the wall. I was hoping to have the number ported over to FPL so I can do some testing before I cancelled my services with Bell, but I guess once they port the number over they cancel the service at the same time.
I guess my only option right now is to wait until tomorrow to see if the porting of the number is processed properly.
After the number gets ported over to FPL, does this become my new number on my profile? Does this replace the number I was originally assigned when I first registered?

Yes it will replace the FPL number you were issued, so the username inside your ATA will need to be changed (don't for get the initial 1 in the number).
If you don't have your ATA to hand and want to test things, you can always download the FPL desktop app and log in with that. It will tell you if you number if active if nothing else.

Thanks the number was ported over, and I logged into my ATA and changed my phone number.
Everything is up and running for now.
I'm extremely new to VOIP.
What are some of the things I should brush up on?
I'm using a Siupra SPA-2000 ATA.

If it works, don't touch it
From time to time you may have to power the ATA down and back up again after 20 seconds or so if it gets 'stuck', but all you should be able to do is just enjoy the free calling and no monthly bills.
