FPL - Incoming Calls all Busy
I'm not sure what happened (if anything), but anyone who tries to call my FPL home phone gets the Busy Tone or the "Call is not available, please leave a message". I've got a Linksys PAP2 that I haven't logged into for over a year and everything looks good there. I checked my router and nothing has changed, it has been online for the last 188 days. I gave everything a reboot (DD-WRT router, linksys PAP) and still nothing.
I can call from my FPL phone to the outside world but no one can call me. Any thoughts? It appears to have just started yesterday.
Linksys PAP:
Display Name: ******* User ID: **********
Hook State: On Registration State: Online
Last Registration At: 1/5/2015 21:20:36 Next Registration In: 2374 s
Message Waiting: No Call Back Active: No
Last Called Number: ******* Last Caller Number:
I checked my FPL Call log and this is an example of what it says:
Jan 05, 2015 9:23:08 PM Jan 05, 2015 9:23:13 PM User busy Streetsville ON
If someone leaves me a message, I use my phone and retrieve it.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Re: FPL - Incoming Calls all Busy
Check the User tab of your ATA and see if DND Setting is set to Yes. If so, set it to No.

Thanks! It was on DND
I didn't know that setting existed or that I put it on it

I'm glad that worked!
If you want to disable this feature permanently, you can navigate to the Line tab of your ATA and set DND Serv to No.

You probably dialled *78 at some point. This is the vertical service code to set DND in that ATA. Try dialling *79 if this happens again, or as Mango suggested disable the feature and remove the appropriate * codes (on the regional tab).

Re: FPL - Incoming Calls all Busy
Hi,
I just experienced incoming calls with a busy tone during this weekend (late at night). This happened when the ATA box indicated that it is registered and will be renewed in about 200 seconds All three green lights on the ATA box are on. I forgot to check for dial tone, nor outgoing calls.
Has anyone experienced the same issue?
How to avoid this issue?
Thanks.

Re: FPL - Incoming Calls all Busy
Be sure your ATA is configured as per the official guide at http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16206
If it already is configured that way, see the posts above for instructions to find out if you accidentally enabled DND.

Re: FPL - Incoming Calls all Busy
It is configured as per official guide. It has been working perfectly since Dec/2014. I did not enable DND either.
I was able to resolve the issue quickly by forced registration.
I am hoping that I don't have to do this from time to time, and might miss "important" calls.

So, you contacted FPL customer service, and they did a forced registration for you?ckkatan wrote:

That seems possible to me, if the ATA becomes unregistered for some reason, given you haven't addressed the underlying cause, unless, of course,I am hoping that I don't have to do this from time to time, and might miss "important" calls.
FPL did something so that this issue never arises for you again.

Re: FPL - Incoming Calls all Busy
Hi Liptonbrisk,
No, when I checked the ATA box, it was still registered with FPL with only 200+ second to the next renewal.
I reset the ATA box to force registration with FPL and this resolved the issue for the incoming call as "busy" tone. So, this issue was not related to DND or Call Forward setting.

Re: FPL - Incoming Calls all Busy
Hi all.
It started 2 days ago and I've tried a lot of things to resolve this issue, to no avail. I have been using this setup for months without any issue. What changed? I did do a cleanup in my cabling (modem/ATA/NAS/router) and plugged everything back up. This included a power off, cable cleanup and power up again.
Since then, all incoming calls, regardless whether my ATA is powered/online or not, receive a fast busy tone (+/- 2Hz) (as opposed to be redirected to the vocal mail box when ATA is powered off).
Throughout my troubleshooting, I noticed that this issue is not occurring when I'm calling home (where the problem is) either from my fongo app on my iPhone or when a friend also using freephoneline on his ATA is calling me. I can also be redirected to my vocal mail box instantaneously (no ring) when I power off my ATA and call home using my fongo iphone app.
I've tried to swap my router RV180 with my Linksys E4200 (which has been working in the past). I've tried to swap my obi202 with my spare spa112 (which has also been working in the past). I've tried to delete my obi202 from my obitalk account, factory reset the obi202 and reconfigure it from the web first, then directly connected to it for the expert settings. I've also tried connecting the ATA directly to my DOCIS modem and cycle the power (to properly acquire IP). Still no success, no change.
I've revised my ATA devices configurations, as other users had this issue and all attempted solutions didn't work.
Obi dashboard shows my freephoneline as registered. Freephoneline account shows my SIP status as connected and identifies my obi202. Attempted problematic phone calls are NOT logged under the call log page of freephoneline's web site.
Anyone, any clue or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Re: FPL - Incoming Calls all Busy
Well, seems like I finally got hold of it yesterday, without really knowing what setting could have caused my issue to occur.
I got my hand on a SPA112 and configured it as per the freephoneline/SPA112 pdf of another trend within this site.
I'm back to a fully serviceable ATA. I'll have to research the obi202 settings a bit further.
